Job Title: Assistant Human Resource Manager

Job Purpose
The Assistant Human Resource Manager for a prestigious luxury watches & jewelry brand will oversee HR functions for all brands and stores in Malaysia. This role is critical in driving employee engagement, fostering strong employee relations, and enhancing talent development strategies. You will spend approximately 70% of your time at retail stores engaging with employees and store leadership, focusing on staff retention, succession planning, and team development.
Key Responsibilities:
HR Generalist Functions
- Manage day-to-day HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, employee performance management, and payroll coordination.
- Ensure compliance with local labor laws, company policies, and industry standards.
- Provide HR support and consultation to store leaders and employees on issues such as disciplinary actions, grievances, and workforce management.
Employee Engagement & Relations
- Develop and implement engagement programs to enhance team morale and retention.
- Proactively address employee concerns and mediate workplace conflicts to foster a positive work environment.
- Act as a trusted point of contact for employees to discuss career growth, grievances, and feedback.
- Conduct regular store visits to assess staff satisfaction, working conditions, and development needs.
- Support store managers in resolving HR-related challenges and improving employee retention.
Talent Development & Succession Planning
- Collaborate with store leaders to identify high-potential talent and design career development pathways.
- Work closely with retail teams to implement succession plans and ensure leadership readiness.
- Support training programs aimed at enhancing both technical and soft skills within the retail teams.
HR Projects & Initiatives
- Lead or contribute to HR-related projects, such as employee satisfaction surveys, performance reviews, and policy updates.
- Analyze HR metrics related to turnover, retention, and employee satisfaction, and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.
- Drive the implementation of global HR initiatives and adapt them to fit the local market context.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Human Resources, with a focus on employee engagement, relations, and development.
- Experience working in the luxury/fashion retail sector, is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian labor laws and HR best practices.
- Proven ability to work across multiple brands and store locations, with a hands-on approach to employee engagement.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to travel between stores within Malaysia.
