Underwriter, Property/Liability/Marine Insurance Malaysia

Angove Partners are working with an insurance and reinsurance broker operating in Malaysia and international markets, who are looking to expand their Underwriting division. They aspire to be the leading source for all insurance companies worldwide for the placement of reinsurance for large and complex business risks.

What is the role

As an Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in assessing and underwriting risks within the Property, Liability and/or Marine industries. Leveraging your expertise, you will contribute to the development of customized insurance programs, ensuring that our clients receive comprehensive coverage tailored to their unique needs.

What will you be doing

• You will evaluate and underwrite insurance-related risks, including property, liability, and other specialized coverages, in accordance with underwriting guidelines and company policies.
• You will be collaborating closely with brokers, clients, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and assess risk profiles.
• You will be analyzing market trends, emerging risks, and regulatory changes to stay informed and adapt underwriting strategies accordingly.
• You will be developing and maintaining strong relationships with brokers and clients, providing expert guidance on risk mitigation and insurance solutions.
• You will contribute to the effective management of the underwriting portfolio, including monitoring and analyzing performance metrics.

What do you need to apply to this role

• Proven experience as an underwriter, specifically with a focus on Property, Liability and/or Marine insurance.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to assess complex risks and determine appropriate coverage.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with brokers and clients.
