Upwork has partnered with one of their enterprise-level client, who is a full-service data company as they are looking for skilled translators fluent in Malayalam and English to help with urgent, ad-hoc translation requests from Malayalam to English.

In this role, you will help native English individuals understand what is being discussed in videos hosted on an online video-sharing platform, as well as all the cultural connotations that might be implied.

Job Description

Deliver top-notch translation of the provided video within a shared Google doc.
Ensure translations reflect cultural understanding and context needed to understand
metaphors/slurs/slang.
Leave notes where specific and detailed sensitive language is mentioned.
Ensure that the names of the speaker and listener are there if it is a conversation
between two or more persons.

Qualifications

Requirements:


You need to be proficient in Malayalam.
Attention to detail and exceptional written and communication skills.
Fluency in English

Nice to have:


Professional translator experience
Enrollment or completion of an undergraduate program in a humanities field or field related to translation
