The Role

The Technical Architect will be a part of Yinson Green Technologies Digital Products team developing new digital products to support our new business ventures in the Electromobility, Energy and Marine sectors. It will entail working closely with Solution Architects, Software Engineers, Software Test Engineers, DevOps Engineers and Product Managers to develop and deliver these ambitious digital products. The Technical Architect will provide technical leadership and direction to a team of Software Engineers and will be involved in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle and will have a broad understanding of the overall product architecture.

We are looking for someone who possesses an astute business awareness to understand the value proposition of our digital ecosystems. The person must have significant experience working on large and complex products, has a passion for technology and enjoys working in a fast changing and challenging environment to build a net zero carbon future.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and direction to our ambitious digital products teams in terms of architecture, design, implementation, integration, testing, deployment, and operations
• Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle Design, Development, Integration, Testing, Deployment, Maintenance and Customer Support for large and complex systems
• Collaborate and work together with Solution Technical Architects, Software Engineers, Software Test Engineers, DevOps Engineers, and Product Managers in the lifecycle to achieve the desired product outcomes
• Investigate and evaluate appropriate software technologies that meet the business objectives
• Drives good engineering practices such as code reviews, secure programming, unit testing, and continuous improvement activities and where appropriate work on prototypes to validate technical approaches
• Drive architectural decisions based on current and future product requirements, risk analysis, and product release timelines, proposing viable technical solutions through research and in-depth understanding of the code base
• Participate in hands-on development activities when required
• Evaluate and select appropriate technology stacks and hosting environments
• Design the best possible production setup for resilience, scalability, optimum performance, and security
• Review test plans to ensure full test coverage
• Continually improve personal understanding of new technologies, programming languages, frameworks, technical concepts, methods, and measurement that underpin the product portfolios of the company
• Ensures that all work is consistent with defined standards where standards exist and to withstand professional scrutiny in any case
• Coach and guide junior engineers in terms of best practices, product/process knowledge, and tools

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering/IT/Computer Science
• Master's degree in Engineering/IT/Computer Science is desirable

Skills & Experience

• At least 10 years of hands-on development experience in the IT/Software industry, including 5 years as an Architect
• A solid understanding of the various design patterns and methodologies, particularly micro-services based architectures
• A strong programming experience in Java, Python, JavaScript
• Experience in Relational database technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, and no-SQL databases such as MongoDB, CassandraDB and MariaDB
• Experience in cloud services platforms, particularly AWS
• Strong experience in CI/CD to ensure an automated integration and delivery pipeline
• A good understanding of deployment technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience in traditional Waterfall and Agile methodologies
• Experience in big and complex projects with a team size of 10-20
• Must be a technical leader with excellent written and verbal communication skills, open-minded, innovative, curious about new technologies and with solid operational experience
