Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Systems Administrator I is responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of RRCs IT infrastructure. This role involves managing servers, networks, and other IT systems to ensure the smooth operation of the company's technology environment. The Systems Administrator I works closely with other IT team members to monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement updates and security measures.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • System Monitoring and Maintenance:
Monitor and maintain servers, networks, and systems to ensure optimal performance and availability.
  • Perform routine system checks, backups, and updates to ensure systems are running efficiently and securely.
Identify and resolve hardware, software, and network issues as they arise.
  • User Support:
Provide support to end-users for system-related issues, including login problems, access requests, and other technical queries.
  • Assist in the setup, configuration, and deployment of workstations, printers, and other peripherals.
Security Management:
  • Implement and maintain security protocols to protect company systems and data from unauthorized access, malware, and other threats.
Monitor security logs and take appropriate action on any potential threats or vulnerabilities.
  • System Configuration and Deployment:
Assist in the configuration and deployment of new servers, software applications, and network equipment.
  • Ensure all systems are configured in line with company standards and industry best practices.
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and processes.
Prepare and submit regular reports on system performance, incidents, and updates.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork:
Work closely with other IT team members to support larger projects and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers to resolve technical issues and maintain system warranties and licenses.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; an associate or bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent work experience will also be considered.
Basic knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS) and networking concepts.
  • Familiarity with system administration tools and utilities (e.g., Active Directory, DNS, DHCP).
Understanding of security principles and practices, including firewalls, antivirus software, and encryption.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a technical support or IT administration role. Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) is a plus.
Occasional after-hours work may be necessary for system updates and maintenance.
  • Office-based role with the possibility of remote work depending on company policy.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with customers and team members.
  • Ability to manage frustrated users calmly and provide support in a patient manner.
A proactive approach to finding solutions and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to collaborate with other team members and departments.
  • Precision in logging issues, following procedures, and ensuring accurate information is captured.
Openness to continuous learning and keeping up with the latest technology trends.
  • Ability to adjust to new systems, tools, and environments quickly.
