Job Description: Survivor Care Coordinator Malaysia (Full-Time)
Background
- The Survivor Care Coordinator will play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive support and coordination services concerning survivors of human trafficking and child sexual exploitation. This position is crucial in ensuring survivors receive holistic care, access to resources, and support to rebuild their lives.
- The Survivor Care Coordinator will also be responsible in coordinating and overseeing projects, trainings and workshops related to the prevention of human trafficking and child sexual exploitation.
Objectives
- To provide trauma-informed, personalized care and advocacy for survivors of human trafficking and child sexual exploitation.
- To ensure confidentiality, safety, and respect for the autonomy and choices of survivors.
- To empower survivors through education, skill-building, and self-advocacy initiatives.
- To coordinate access to essential services, including medical care, shelter, legal assistance, counselling, repatriation, and financial support.
- To develop and foster relationships with key stakeholders, such as government agencies, international organizations, NGOs, law enforcement, service providers, and community-based organizations, to strengthen support networks for survivors.
- Ensure ongoing support and efforts in preventing human trafficking and child sexual exploitation through conducting outreach workshops, training sessions, and awareness-raising activities.
Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments to identify the needs of survivors and gaps in areas where support is needed or lacking.
- Develop holistic care plans in collaboration with other NGOs, service providers, law enforcement and relevant government ministries based on the services provided by each respective organisation/agency.
- Coordinate and/or create referral mechanisms and appointments for medical, legal, counselling, repatriation and/or other support services.
- Provide crisis intervention and emotional support to survivors as needed.
- Conduct due diligence to vet organizations before engaging with them for services or collaboration.
- Advocate for survivors rights and access to services within the community and legal systems.
- Monitor and track progress towards goals outlined in care plans.
- Monitor and evaluate workshops, trainings and other survivor care related projects and identify areas of success and/or improvement.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of interactions and services provided.
- Provide timely weekly, quarterly, or any other necessary reports to the Country Director.
- Engage in networks and working groups dedicated to combating human trafficking and child sexual exploitation.
- Participate in training and professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge related to survivor care.
- Ensure thorough compliance with OUR Rescue's operational, financial, program, and human resources policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counselling, or a related field.
- Previous experience working with survivors of trauma or in a similar advocacy role is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of community resources and support services for survivors.
- Understanding of trauma-informed care principles and practices.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Sensitivity to cultural differences and a commitment to promoting inclusivity and diversity.
- Proficiency in relevant computer applications for documentation and communication.
Additional Requirements
- To provide a background check or certificate of good conduct, along with references and supporting documents, including academic qualifications and relevant certifications.
Duration And Remuneration
- The Survivor Care Coordinator position is a full-time role, with standard working hours.
- Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, in line with organizational policies.

Reporting
- The Survivor Care Coordinator will report to the Country Director and the VP of Survivor Care.
Location:
- The position will be based at OUR Rescue Malaysia in Bukit Damansara with occasional travel within Malaysia and overseas as required.
Evaluation
- The selected candidate for the Survivor Care Coordinator position will undergo a three-month probationary period upon joining the organization, with the possibility of extending for an additional three months.
- Performance evaluations will be conducted annually, based on key performance indicators and objectives outlined in this TOR.

- The Terms of Reference are subject to revision or amendment as needed, pending approval from senior management.
