JOB DESCRIPTION
The Subject Teacher for Physical and Health Education (Secondary) will deliver high-quality physical and health education to learners across the MYP, IGCSE, and IBDP curriculum. This role requires a commitment to fostering learners physical, emotional, and social development, as well as promoting lifelong health and wellness. The teacher will engage learners through active learning, inclusive instruction, and differentiated approaches that cater to diverse learning needs and abilities
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Employing effective pedagogy that enables children to become successful and self-regulated learners who achieve personal excellence by:
Building learning-focused relationships
Empowering children to become independent learners
Being clear about what is to be learnt
Using appropriate assessment tools for formative and summative assessment
Using assessment information to plan progression
Providing high quality scaffolding and feedback to learners
Encouraging learners to reflect on their learning
Engaging learners in setting learning goals
Involving parents in their children's learning through learner-led conferences and regular parent - teacher dialogue
Employing and integrating IT to enhance learning
Supporting learners to solve authentic problems related to real-world situations
Collaborating positively within a team and across teams
Meeting the Nexus Teacher Professional Standards and wanting to grow and develop and being committed to professional learning
Involvement in whole school events and activities as required
Working with learners as a form tutor as assigned and helping them set personal goals
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
A relevant degree plus teaching qualification (or equivalent)
Higher degree or recognised professional qualification (preferred)
Evidence of continued relevant professional development
Experience working with bilingual and multilingual learners and learners with diverse needs
At least 2 years of relevant experience in an international school environment where the school curriculum focused on PYP, MYP, IBDP and/or UK (preferred)
