TURBINE TECHNICIAN JOB DESCRIPTION- Able to operate various mechanical and electrical systems which include high pressure steam systems, auxiliary or exhaust steam systems, process steam system, lubrication system, plant and control air systems, fuel systems, cooling water systems, and other auxiliary systems related to steam turbines & generator and diesel generator sets.
Able to operate the plant electrical distribution system including switchboards, Motor Control Centers, control panels and UPS backup system.- Able to identify equipment problems, report abnormal conditions to Energy Plant Engineer and document properly using logs, records, and our work request system.
Able to read and interpret Piping, Instrumentation Diagram (PI&D), technical specifications and operating manuals.
- Able to understand and ensure electrical and mechanical equipment are de-energized and made safe for working conditions as required. Ensure appropriate permits are prepared as required by the jobs.
Conduct routine rounds on equipment to ensure proper operation of equipment.- Assist maintenance when necessary to support overall maintenance or overhaul of the plant.
Area housekeeping as required.
- Ensure area is kept safe and environmentally sound, report any problems immediately.
Participate in area meetings, training and other plant meetings when applicable.- Control a variety of power-generation equipment and machinery in relation to the boiler operation during normal operation, scheduled maintenance and emergency repair procedures.
Monitor meters, gauges and control boards to verify operational parameters, and make adjustment to distribution, generator output, voltage and electricity flow rates according to standard protocols and plant requirement.
- Utilize a variety of analog and digital informational displays to understand operational performance variables, such as electricity flow and voltage, and record information accurately into manual logs and computer databases
Oversee machinery indicators to determine existence of malfunctions or suboptimal performance, and initiate appropriate repair procedures when necessary- Start and stop turbines and other power-generation equipment as necessary to maintain safe operation, allow for repair work and meet changing supply and demand variables
Follow all relevant safety protocols and legal codes to ensure proper operation of equipment and minimize risk of damage to property and personnel
- Participate in regular training to improve performance, acquire professional licenses and maintain certification required by company and government regulations.
Do other jobs whenever assigned by the management.- To stand by when maintenance shut down until production running.
Ensure companys property is well taken care of all-time any damages must be reported immediately.
- Be available for any breakdown during non-working hours.
Other related job function that is reasonably expected to perform as per company procedures.
