Role Purpose:
We're looking for an Android Engineer to join the Setel Engineering team. We are obsessed with delivering a seamless and frictionless retail experience for our customers. Rated with 4.9 AppStore reviews, we kept delivering amazing experiences for our customers and merchants. In this role you will:
- Build new features / Improve existing features for Setel on android by working closely with the Product Managers, design teams and backend team.
- Use Swift language for development.
- Take full ownership of projects from design (collaborate with the design team) to implementation, App Store release and post monitoring (Firebase Crashlytics).
- Brainstorm ideas to improve our customer experience.
- Investigate, analyse and optimise android app performance and reliability (Instruments).
- Enforce code guidelines and best practices via high-quality code reviews (Gitlab).
- Share best practices for all aspects of the software development lifecycle, including process & conventions with team members.
- Identify/fix bugs, crashes and other areas of improvement in our android codebase (Firebase Crashlytics).
- Improve our CI/CD pipelines (.Bitrise).
- Improve/ reduce our 3rd party dependencies (Carthage/Cocoapods) for smaller app size.
- Write unit test cases and improve test coverage (BDD).
- Provide support for resolving customer issues and root cause analysis.
- Regularly communicate with engineering leads on project and delivery status.
- Assist with any related tasks, projects, and other assigned duties as and when deemed necessary.
- Ensure adherence to the compliance of company policies, industry regulations and legal requirements.
You're a great fit if you have:
- 2+ years as an android Software Engineer with Swift language.
- Built, shipped and maintained at least one android application for a period of 1-2 years.
- Great verbal and written communication skills horizontally and vertically.
- Good at critical thinking and problem solving.
- Good understanding of data structure, design patterns, algorithms.
- Understanding of different architectures such as MVC / MVP / MVVM / VIPER / TCA.
- Rely on dependency injection and understands when to use a Singleton / Share instance.
- Fearless on thread safety and concurrency topics.
- Experienced with CI/CD ( Bitrise / Gitlab).
- Experienced with Firebase Crashlytics.
- Familiar with common tools for android software development (Git, Slack, JIRA).
- Preferably experience building Payment / Rewards & Loyalty / Marketplace / e-Commerce / SaaS apps.
- Experience working with a distributed team across multiple time zones.
- Never stop learning new things.
- Enjoy scalable app development.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
