Job Summary: The Shadow Aide will support a student with special needs within a mainstream educational setting. The aide will work under the supervision of the classroom teacher and special education staff to facilitate the student's learning, ensure their safety, and support their social integration.
Provide one-on-one support to a student with special needs.
- Assist the student with classroom activities, including academic tasks, social interactions, and physical activities.
Implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs) as directed by special education professionals.- Monitor and document the student's progress and behavior.
Communicate regularly with teachers, parents, and special education staff about the student's needs and progress.
- Ensure the student's safety and well-being at all times.
Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the student's needs.- Facilitate social integration with peers.
Assist with any personal care needs, if required.
High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
- Previous experience working with children with special needs is highly desirable.
Understanding of special education principles and practices.- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
* Physical ability to assist the student with mobility, if necessary.
