Senior Storage Engineer

Job Overview

The Senior Storage Engineer has a primary focus on data storage subsystems and will deliver technical infrastructure services for design, engineering, maintenance and support of the enterprise's data storage environment. The candidate must be able to contribute independently and on teams in projects of moderate to complex scope in order to recommend and develop creative and practical solutions. Broad experience in data storage administration and strong technical knowledge in this specific technology area is required. That experience and knowledge will be used to perform predictive analysis, performance analysis, monitor systems, Identify root cause, develop and implement short-and long-term solutions, and must be able to guide others in adaptive problem solving. A successful candidate will use innovative approaches to proactively tackle a broad range of problems.

• Responsibilities

Provides technical support for installing, configuring and maintaining data storage subsystem environments globally. Monitors and tunes the data storage subsystems to achieve optimum level of performance.

• Provides performance data statistics to management and other team members.

Performs routine hardware and software audits of data storage subsystems for compliance with established standards, policies, configuration guidelines and procedures.

• Develops and maintains a comprehensive data storage subsystems hardware and software configuration management database/library (CMDB) of all supporting documentation

Develops and maintains effective customer relationships.

• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Perform other duties as assigned.

• Required

5-8 years experience in NetApp, Pure Storage, or other data storage subsystems

• 5-8 years experience in IT operating systems or IT systems related, etc.

Project management skills.

• Demonstrates an ability to evaluate project objectives and scope for feasibility, understanding, and scheduling

Must be able to work on-call 24 hours a day as problems or projects require

• Advanced oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledge Ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions

Ability to work well within a team environment and participate in department/team projects

• Ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives

Advanced ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted solutions

• Advanced level of skills in customer relationship management and change management Ability to manage multiple projects or teams and set applicable goals

Advanced negotiating and persuasion skills

• Ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines

General business knowledge

Oracle and SQL databases

• Unix, Linux, and Windows operating systems

Exchange administration

• Insurance industry knowledge
