Department Overview
Design & Develop batteries, chargers & power supply for highly-sophisticated two way communication products used in professional & mission critical markets of the commercial, government & industrial segments
Job Description
Be involved in the product development activities from the conceptual stage to mass production, including:
- Develop new product(s) concept design that meets customer requirements & expectations, design, process & safety guidelines, using both 2D and 3D application software.
- Support in product design review internally with Electrical Engineering, Product Engineering, Product Quality, Procurement, Product Safety and participate in reviews with suppliers.
- Develop systems and procedures for the fabrication and test of lithium ion batteries, power supplies and chargers.
- Interpreting & generating 2D drawings per mechanical drafting standard
- Performing mechanical tolerance analysis and DFMEA
- Supporting prototype/pilot builds. Investigating appropriate materials and production processes
- Support thermal and structural testing of product(s) by developing test setups, writing procedures, and analyzing results
- Clarifying and solving design issues.
- Releasing mechanical prints & parts qualification reports
- Setting up & maintaining bill of materials
- Compiling information for user manuals and/or instruction sheets
- Maintaining an awareness of design trends and influences in energy product.
Basic Requirements
- At least a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines.
- Demonstrated successful experience in mechanical engineering design from concept through production release with a focus on DFM.
- Good in analytical & problem-solving skills.
- Good knowledge of material properties (sheet metal and plastic).
- Able to work as an individual as well as a good team player.
- Able to communicate & present the conceptual ideas to the technical audiences.
- Experience with 3D CAD and 2D drawings, specifically Pro/E Creo. Some knowledge of Adobe Illustrator is required.
- Having basic understanding of lithium-ion battery, power supply and charger design and safety is required.
- Experience with various manufacturing processes such as plastic injection molding, metal stamping, plastic bonding, metal welding and PCBA & Electromechanical assembly a plus.
- Experience conducting FEA structural and thermal analysis will be an added advantage.
