The Role

A Senior Software Engineer is an experienced member of our Group Engineering teams. A Senior Software Engineer is a fully autonomous professional, responsible for improving the technical alignment, health and engineering practices within a team. You will develop software within product delivery/systems/platform teams, contributing to engineering quality, coaching and mentoring entry-level Software Engineers, and demonstrate passion for your craft through user centric, reliable and scalable solutions.

Desirable Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Build

Build and operate highly scalable and performant software in alignment with existing frameworks and SEEK's technology strategy

Build and maintain software written in TypeScript, Node JS and React

Design, develop, support and maintain cloud native software (e.g. AWS/Lambda)

Experience developing systems which effectively use AWS services such as SNS, SQS, DynamoDB and Lambda

Experience working with MS SQL Server databases

Experience working with GraphQL APIs

Creates and maintains continuous delivery pipelines using current practices, patterns & tooling

Exposure to Splunk logging and Datadog monitoring/alerting

Uses current technical practices such as writing clean, testable code and pair programming

Creates software using secure coding practices and mitigates common vulnerabilities

Troubleshoots and manages production incidents

Execute

Consistently write clean, well-tested, readable software, using secure coding practices, current patterns and tooling

Improve quality and engineering discipline and strengthen team capability

Strengthen Agile delivery rituals and practices

Strengthen secure coding practises and tooling within team

Actively communicate with others in an effective, timely manner with empathy

Improve a DevOps culture through effective collaboration and regular reflection

Improve understanding of your customers and consider their needs in all development

Uses data to support decision making

Support

Experience imparting knowledge and skills to help other team members grow

Experience working in a product engineering team to bring product and design thinking into the discovery phase

Experience working with Senior BAs to improve scrum ceremonies

Expected to attend the KL office 1-2 days a week and one whole week every quarter

Demonstrates strong alignment to Our SEEK culture and principles

Prior experience working in online marketplace businesses would be considered ideal

Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline is considered mandatory

Ability to operate in team with geographically distributed team members

5+ years of software engineering experience is mandatory
