Job Description

Job Summary

The Deputy Director in the Audit and Compliance Department at the MCMC is responsible for leading a team of auditors and overseeing the execution of audits, assessments, and compliance reviews. This role involves managing the audit process, guiding team members, and ensuring that internal controls, policies, and regulations are adhered to within the organization.

Job Responsibilities

Audit Planning and Execution

  • Lead and manage a team of auditors, providing guidance, coaching, and performance evaluations
  • Plan and execute comprehensive audits of financial, operational, and compliance processes to identify areas of risk and improvement
  • Coordinate audit activities and assignments within the team, ensuring proper allocation of resources and timely completion of tasks
  • Analyse audit findings, develop recommendations and prepare clear and comprehensive audit reports for management and relevant stakeholders

Annual Audit Plan

  • Collaborate with the Head of Audit and Compliance Department to develop the annual audit and compliance plan based on organizational priorities and regulatory requirements

Compliance Assessment, Operational Efficiency and Controls

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, policies, and procedures, and recommend enhancements to ensure compliance and efficiency

Cross Functional Collaboration and Stakeholder Communications

  • To engage with cross-functional teams to address audit findings and facilitate the implementation of corrective actions and monitor progress

Reporting and Communication

  • Communicate audit findings and recommendations professionally to relevant stakeholders through clear written reports and verbal presentations

Continuous Learning and Awareness

  • Foster a culture of ethics, integrity, and accountability within the team and the organization

Process Improvement

  • Stay informed about changes in regulations, industry standards, and best practices to enhance the audit and compliance function

Others

  • To provide operational support for Audit & Assurance Division on others unspecified task and program as and when needed

Qualification and Work Experience

  1. Candidate must at least have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  2. Having relevant professional certifications (e.g., CIA, CISA, CPA) would be an additional advantage
  3. Candidate must have a minimum of 5 - 7 years of experience in internal auditing, compliance, or related roles, with demonstrated progression in responsibilities
  4. Strong understanding of audit methodologies, risk assessment, and internal control frameworks
  5. Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards in the telecommunications and multimedia industry
  6. Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to guide, motivate, and develop a team of auditors
  7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to convey complex findings to various stakeholders
  8. Proficiency in using audit software, tools, and Microsoft Office applications
  9. Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret financial and operational data and identify trends
  10. Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying issues and proposing solutions
  11. Commitment to upholding ethics, integrity, and professionalism
  12. Knowledge of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission's functions and regulations is a plus
