Your main responsibilities will be to conduct experimental work on a small portfolio of projects. Connect and interpret results to make recommendations for new and improved product formulations. Provide technical support for new and existing products. Perform and manage efficient and accurate color matching. You will be reporting to the Technical Manager, based in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.
Main Responsibilities
Plan and perform a program of laboratory work for self and assistant (where applicable) covering a range a technical project in full compliance with all safety and work procedures.
Plan and perform a program of color matching for self and assistant (where applicable) covering a range a color and technical projects in full compliance with all safety and work procedures.
Be available to other team members when consulting on color and training them for higher color delivery efficiency.
In consultation with supervisor, identify technologies and formulating methods to develop products with the most appropriate and efficient formulations.
Interpret results of laboratory work, initiate additional work, present conclusions and suggestions for implementation that meet agreed project deadlines.
Provide technical support to other internal functions, such as marketing & sales, production and procurement.
Contribute ideas for the laboratory work involving new product development, existing product improvement, formula cost reduction, processes & procedural improvement and support to Sales.
Qualifications
Graduate with Honours Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
5-10 years work experience in a technical role at a relevant company within the chemical or coatings industry.
Good knowledge of paint making, testing techniques & colour theory.
Experience with paint manufacturing and production processes.
Good knowledge of formulating rules and principles.
Broad appreciation of raw material suppliers and their technologies.
Sound understanding of PPG and competitive product ranges.
Has good understanding of end-user customs and practices.
Working knowledge of all laboratory & EHS procedures.
