Job Description, Function & Responsibility:
1) Strategic Business Development Planning:
- Continuous updating of senior stakeholders and BD & Sales team members by attending related events, training, and conferences, and providing feedback and information on market and creative trends.
- Present to and consult with senior-level management on business trends to develop new services, products, and distribution channels.
- Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales.
- Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the Company's Unique Selling Propositions (USP) and differentiators.
- Perform territory management by prioritizing and managing customers and prospects organized by segments (such as geography, industry, and need).
- Prepare a strategic business plan on BD direction as and when requested by senior management.
2) New Business Opportunities (NBO) / Development:
- Prospect for potential new clients and turn this into increased business.
- Plan for the team to carry out targeted cold calls as appropriate within the industry or geographic area to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities.
- Meet potential clients by growing, maintaining, and leveraging the Company's network.
- Identify potential clients and their decision-makers within the client organization.
- Research and build relationships with new clients.
- Set up meetings between client decision-makers and Company's senior stakeholders
- Plan approaches and pitches.
- Work with internal BD, Sales & Operations team to develop proposals that speak to the client's needs, concerns, and objectives.
- Participate in pricing the solution/services.
- Handle objections by clarifying, emphasizing agreements, and working through differences to a positive conclusion.
- Use a variety of styles to persuade or negotiate appropriately.
3) Client Retention:
- Present new products and services and enhance existing relationships.
- Work with technical staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs.
- Arrange and participate in internal and external client debriefs.
4) Management Reporting and Research:
- Submit periodic progress reports, including the team's KPI achievement.
- Ensure that data is accurately entered and managed within the Company's systems.
- Work alongside the Sales team to forecast sales targets and ensure the group meets them.
- Track and record activity on accounts and help to close deals to meet these targets.
- Work with marketing staff to ensure that prerequisites to achieve BD activities are fulfilled in a timely manner.
- Ensure all team members represent the Company in the best light.
- Present business development training and mentoring to internal staff.
- In-depth understanding of the Company's goal and purpose to continue to enhance the Company's performance.
5) As an international trader with a vast customer base throughout South East Asia, your responsibilities are to coordinate import and export operations while following all legal requirements and regulations related to the import and export of goods, materials, or products from one country to another. In these positions, your duties are to work closely with trade specialists and producers to ensure that you complete orders on time and provide the proper documentation for any goods leaving or entering a country. Extensive traveling is required within and out of the home country to carry out Business Development activities.
6) Perform other ad-hoc jobs and responsibilities assigned by immediate superior.
What Makes You a Successful Applicant
- Possess at least a recognized University Degree in the relevant field of business studies. A Degree in studies of chemicals is an added advantage.
- At least eight (8) years of relevant experience in Sales function with leadership capacity. Experience of at least five (5) years in the chemical trading/ distribution industry is a plus point.
- Possess a good command of written & spoken English & Malay.
- Knowledge of Mandarin is essential as will be dealing with China counterparties
- Experience managing a Sales function and complete cycle of Sales activities from prospecting, selling, closing sales, planning for continuous improvement/ analysis, and Customer Relationship Management.
- Track record of building, motivating, and delivering results from the team effort.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office, especially PowerPoint/presentation software.
- Has in-depth knowledge of managing overall sales activities.
- Has solid competitiveness analysis on sales data to plan for sales strategies.
- Knowledge of supply chain management/logistics.
- Has the ability to strategize and solve problems using a creative and innovative mindset.
- Possess an eye for opportunities able to spot business opportunities.
- Possess strong leadership and organizational skills such as excellent communication, collaboration, and motivation skills.
- Possess Business Acumen & with entrepreneurship and self-driven motivation.
- Customer-centric.
- Having built up its own network of counterparties throughout South East Asia over the years is preferable, but not essential.
- Is articulate, carries self well, and can present effectively and convincingly to management/customers.
