Job Description
Finance business partner
- Act as trusted commercial adviser to SEA MD and BU leads
- Provide commercial input to bids and tenders (pricing, managing foreign exchange and tax risks etc)
- Provide critical finance review of business budgets and forecasts
- Interpret finance data to provide commercial analysis which contributes to business tactics and strategy
- Hold and update standard charge-out rates based on salaries
- Liaise with BU Leaders & HR in transfers and remuneration issues to support on financial matters
Team leadership
- Manage SEA finance team
- Develop team members in conjunction with the Groups talent and performance management programmes
- Manage resources to ensure a balanced workload for all team members
- Delegate work effectively to allow development of team members and to manage personal workload
Financial Accounting
- Manage annual year end accounts process for all SEA region (Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam)
- Manage monthly statutory reporting to Group Finance team in the UK
- Act as main contact point for external auditors
- Own relationship with third party accounting advisers in Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam
- Ensure all statutory filings are completed on time
- Ensure that all statutory filings reconcile to local accounting records and management accounting information
Tax
- Manage tax compliance for SEA region: Corporate income tax, sales tax (i.e. GST, VAT, Service tax etc), Payroll tax (where applicable), Withholding tax
- Own relationship with third party tax advisers
- Ensure all tax fillings and payments are submitted on time
- Manage any tax investigations in conjunction with third party advisers
- Develop understanding of cross border tax issues (e.g. Withholding tax) in order to provide guidance as to commercial implications when deploying staff into different countries within SEA
Management Accounting
- Manage monthly management reporting process for SEA region (accounts, forecasts, KPIs etc)
- Act as interface with Asia finance team
- Manage preparation of ad hoc management information as requested by Asia FD or SEA MD
Bookkeeping
- Ensure accurate books and records are maintained for each entity
- Ensure that appropriate accounting controls are maintained to protect company assets and ensure completeness and accuracy of accounting information
- Develop understanding of internal finance systems to become a subject matter expert for other users
Qualifications
- Qualified accountant: CPA or equivalent
- 3 to 5 years of post-qualification experience including regional exposure in SEA or the wider Asia region
- At least 2 years experience of managing one or more team members
- Preferably some experience in external audit
- Proficiency in English to ensure easy communication with stakeholders across Asia and the wider business
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot tables)
- Creative, highly-driven and self-motivated
- Demonstrated ability to roll-up sleeves and work with team members in a hands-on capacity
