A receiving assistant, also known as a receiving clerk, typically works to receive and unload shipments, and store and maintain them. Their responsibilities include:
- Receiving: Verifying that the contents of shipments match packing slips, purchase orders, and other records. Signing for deliveries and noting any discrepancies or damages.
Inspecting: Unpacking items to check for defects or damage.- Sorting and storing: Placing items on shelves in the appropriate areas.
Inventory: Recording received goods into inventory management systems and updating stock levels.
- Packaging products for return to vendors and filling out any paperwork necessary
Other tasks: Assisting with inventory counts and audits. Operating other material handling equipment as needed. Adhering to safety procedures and guidelines.
