POSITION SUMMARY : (Summary description of the primary duties and objectives)
Responsible for ensuring that BISSELL Asia Supply Base continue to develop and implement best practice that emphasize Zero Defect and Proactive quality action plan, reduction in variation and waste, provide for continuous improvements and continue to meet quality standards required to minimize quality costs and maximize customer satisfaction while ensuring that procedures and processes are adhered to. Responsible for providing leadership, outstanding people skills and management to a team of BMA Supplier Quality Engineering.
Develop new and existing suppliers to improve its reliability and quality. Drive into Sub-tier suppliers for quality assessment and corrective & preventive actions.
POSITION PROFILE (Major Duties, Accountabilities, And Responsibilities)
- Strategy and Development:
- Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice quality vision, strategy, policies,
processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance
- Contribute to new business initiatives by collaborating and supporting BISSELL Quality Strategy.
- Develop BISSELL Malaysia 1 st and 2 nd tier supplier quality roadmap according to BISSELL business requirement
- General and Task Management:
- Lead supplier development strategy, designing and driving the metrics for the function and supplier
performance
- Ensure supplier qualification audits, supplier regular validation audit, process audit and Supplier
Development initiatives with all new suppliers and support all supplier's advanced product quality
planning (APQP) programs to ensure they are completed in a timely fashion.
- Align with OTL (sourcing) team about the sourcing strategy to define and continue optimization of
BISSELL SQR criteria to ensure supplier overall capability is effective to meet product and process
Requirements
- Manage the supplier approval process and on-going supplier operations by assessing
manufacturing/technology capabilities and Health, Safety, Ethical Standards, CTPAT, Supply Chain and
Environmental risks
- Develop a matrix to manage overall product launches status to ensure suppliers are capable of delivering
to the required quality standards
- Drive the supplier development plan for key contract manufacture continuous improvement. Review,
evaluate and report supplier quality data to identify process improvement opportunities within the
supply chain, create corrective action plans to address process failures and drive improvements.
- Manage and perform as necessary all on-site supplier visits for root cause analysis and verification of
corrective /preventive actions of supplier quality issues
- Review supplier manufacturing processes, collaborate with suppliers on process improvement and value
enhancement opportunities
- Promote and drive the use of customer preferred techniques for continuous improvement such as Lean,
Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing), Measurement System Analysis and FMEA (Failure Mode and
Effects Analysis)
- Manage the Supplier Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Manage supplier PPM, supplier problem solving on time, cost recovery, and supplier warranty indicators l. Lead, manage and participate hands-on on all quality audits for Asian suppliers. Ensure compliance
and assist with adherence to the Quality Management System (ISO9001, 14000, & QC080000)
- Ensure that BISSELL and Supplier's Quality teams operate in accordance with any health, safety and
environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors
- Keep up with current and developing manufacturing and engineering trends that concern product quality
and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Conduct benchmarking studies to determine best practices/designs and future trends for supplier quality
management
- Support CPX projects and DISE strategies, practice digital methodologies on supplier quality
management perspective
- Manage, coach, training and develop Asian supplier quality joint team

- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal
performance
- Work collaboratively, negotiate and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with the sourcing strategy

Responsibilities
- Manages all day-to-day quality activities for multi-shift molding, batching, filling and packaging operations.
- Has familiarity with physical and analytical tests on components and raw materials, including but not limited to color, physical characteristics, dimensional characteristics, Infra-Red Spectrophotometry, Specific Gravity, Percent Solids, etc.
- Has familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems to manage product set-up, manufacturing data and trends.
- Steps in where necessary to support multi-shift operation and works collaboratively with cross-functional operations partners to pro-actively solve problems and drive solutions. Manages the quality for the domestic component supply base through supplier score cards, facility audits, management of non-conforming material, and corrective actions
- Manages the quality for any domestic contracted manufacturer and supports the quality of any global manufacturing of BISSELL chemical goods.
- Develops systems for managing quality of internally produced sub-assemblies and finished goods through procedure development, action plans, rework instructions in accordance of the Quality Systems Manual
- Initiates investigations customer complaints of Consumable products and methodically tracks through robust root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques.
- Manages, tracks, and closes non-conformances, corrective, and preventative actions through BISSELL Quality Management System software.
- Leads training and development of direct reports on new projects, processes, procedures, and skill sets.
- Sets direction, vision, and goals for Chemical Packaging quality associates each year based on gaps identified, skillsets needed, and corporate capability areas.
- Provides regular quality reports to management and updates presentation materials to inform organization on quality performance.
- Works hand-in-hand with design quality engineers to ensure new product development transitions from development to manufacturing with success.
- Assists in generation and approval of product PPAP's both internally and externally to ensure all production readiness deliverables are complete and documented.
- Develops and monitors key performance indicators of both internal and external quality of BISSELL products and performs periodic data reviews to monitor trends for action.
- Provides on-going direction for continuous improvement of internal and external manufacturing operations and quality systems.
- Responsible for administrative activities such as associate timecard management, equipment calibration, supply purchase orders, and performance management activities.

Required Experience / Education
Degree minimum: Technical degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or other Sciences.
Experience level: Over 10 years experience in Quality Engineering.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: (i.e. MBA, certifications, etc.)
- Quality certifications, e.g. ASQ CQE, CQM, or equivalent
- Six Sigma certification (Green or Black belt)
- Background in injection molding or Electronics
- Experience with supplier assessment audits
- Familiarity with UL1017 or similar agency requirements
Specialized Training Or Skills Required
- Solid experience in quality with industry experience such as mechanical, automotive, home appliance, electrical appliance, printer, or robotics.
- Be expert with ISO, APQP, PPAP, and other quality system knowledge.
- Good at quality tools knowledge of SPC, CPK, MSA, Six Sigma and lean is preferred.
- Must be bilingual in English and the native language.
- Strong computer skills with a firm understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to keep perspective and not over react to situations.

- Willing to travel domestic and international.
- Required to liaise & communicate with vendors in China
