Sika was first established in Malaysia in 1989 and full operations commenced in 1991 through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Sika Kimia Sdn Bhd, with the completion of its local head office and production plant in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan. Since then, the company has gained a leading position in the country with the acceptance and endorsement of its products for construction and industrial applications by local and international proponents.
In the Construction sector, our business activities cover the full spectrum of project types ranging from infrastructural development to buildings, from institutional facilities to manufacturing plants. We service our direct customers concrete producers, contractors and distributors and stay close to them through our central sales & marketing office in Petaling Jaya and a network of sales offices in Penang, Johor Bahru, Kuantan, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu. In 2014 our presence in the Malaysian construction continued to grow when our Ipoh Plant was built and running to meet customer demands.
In Malaysia, our Industry Division is the clear market leader in the automotive glass replacement sector (AGR) and the Sikaflex brand is instantly recognized as a mark for quality, reliability and performance. In the automotive OEM sector, we are the approved supplier to top German car markets such as Mercedes Benz and BMW. Meanwhile, Sika leads the field in total bonding, sealing, damping, reinforcing and protection solutions for bus, truck and rail vehicle manufacturing, and for the assembly of appliances, industrial equipment and building components.
Sika Kimia Sdn Bhd currently employs more than 340 people in Sales & Marketing, Technical Service, Finance, HR & Administration, Laboratory, Production, Purchasing, Customer Service and Warehouse.
Job Description
Overseeing quality control departments and supervisors across seven laboratories in the country.
Supervise the investigation of customer complaints on product performance. Ensure customer complaints are investigated in a prompt and efficient manner.
Conduct regular quality inspections and audits to identify areas for improvement.
Provide leadership and guidance to team members, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.
Train and mentor team members to enhance their skills and knowledge in quality control practices.
Analyze data and metrics to monitor performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Drive initiatives to optimize efficiency and effectiveness within the quality control department.
Ensure a safe working environment and compliance with health and safety regulations.
Ensure that product test certificates are developed/created and maintained to provide verification of material properties claimed on Technical Data Sheets.
Supervise and coordinate all QC laboratory work for production trials associated with such approved development projects and new products.
Ensure that Raw Material Specifications (RMS) are prepared for any new raw material, RMS are updated for any approved new source of an existing raw material and that all RMS are current and any changes or additions are distributed to all concerned parties.
Liase with Development managers for setting QC specifications for existing and new products and raw materials.
To monitor result in statistical manner to evaluate RM/product performance.
To analyze RM/product trend and submit to Head of Technical Services for further evaluation on defined timeline basis (upon request).
To update RM/product specification after sufficient evaluation of history record and with complete test report.
Implement new test methods if necessary and ensure the test equipment is maintained and calibrated frequently
Responsible to ensure calibration for equipment and tools for RM/product related to Powder/Liquid/Resin plants are carried out accordingly to in-house verification work instruction or coordinate with external calibration service provider.
Responsible to ensure availability, well keeping/functioning of test equipment related to RM/product testing.
Responsible of sourcing and purchase request of general consumption related to RM/product testing.
Ensure QC comply with ISO9001 and ISO 14005
Qualifications
Minimum Bachelors degree in science or applied science (Chemistry) plus relevant laboratory experience
Experience in laboratory environment at least 5 years, experience in same industry will be an added advantage
Proven experience in quality control management, preferably in a similar industry or environment.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
Proficiency in quality management systems and related software applications.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality standards applicable to the industry.
Certification in quality management (e.g., Six Sigma, ISO) is a plus.
