About the role

As a Professional Development Instructor at Excelerate, you will play a vital role in shaping the growth and success of our learners. You will be responsible for delivering comprehensive training in various aspects of professional development, equipping learners with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in today's competitive job market.

Your key responsibilities

  • Lesson Design and Delivery Strategy: Prepare detailed lesson plans that encompass the journey of each lesson, the delivery plan, classroom culture development, and strategies for engaging learners in physical, virtual, and hybrid learning environments.

  • Operational Management: Oversee all operational aspects, from pre-program setup to program delivery and post-program support, ensuring a seamless learning experience.

  • Content Adaptation: Customise content materials, including use cases, based on a deep understanding of learner demographics, ensuring relevance and effectiveness.

  • Guidance and Feedback: Mentor and guide learners during pre-work activities, offering constructive feedback on assessments and classwork, and providing valuable insights from your industry experience.

  • Subject Matter Delivery: Deliver engaging and informative instruction on various professional development topics, including Persistence, Communication, Adaptability, Career Development, CV/Resume Building, LinkedIn Optimisation, Personal Branding, Interview Strategies, Growth Mindset, Proactiveness, Stress Management, Workplace Relationship Building, and Portfolio & Cover Letter Development.

The ideal candidate

To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology, HR, Management or a related field. Additional certifications or specialized training in the field would be a valuable asset.

  • Experience: For the Lead Instructor role, a minimum of 5 years of working experience in the Professional Development field, either in academia or industry. For Teaching Assistant roles, less experience may be considered, along with a relevant degree.

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Demonstrate a strong understanding, knowledge, and practical experience in Professional Development concepts and practices.

  • Passion for Education: Exhibit a genuine passion for teaching and mentoring, with a desire to share knowledge and contribute to the growth of learners.

  • Communication Skills: Possess excellent communication skills, enabling you to convey information concisely and effectively and create a dynamic and interactive learning environment.

  • Coaching : The ability to facilitate and coach a variety of class sizes ranging from a big group to a smaller group.

  • Empathy and Supportiveness: Show patience, support, and empathy when assisting learners in overcoming difficulties and encouraging their personal and professional growth.

  • Commitment to Learning: Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in the Professional Development field, and continuously seek ways to improve teaching methods.

  • Certification: Preferably hold a certified HRD Corp Train the Trainer certification.
