The Role: Principal Research Analyst, Fuels and Refining
The Team: Within the Fuels, Chemicals, and Resource solutions division, we provide insight on the industry and market fundamentals of refining crude oil and marketing refined products-including supply/demand balances, trade, prices, capacities, and infrastructure. We forecast product balances and benchmark refining margins, provide details for national markets around the world as well as guidance on what is an anomaly, and what is a fundamental shift in the market. The team consists of a group of analysts covering the Asia-Pacific region and working with global teams across S&P Global

You will be responsible for the production of a short-term (monthly) analysis of the downstream oil market in the form of forward-looking written reports which is accompanied by supporting data books. You will also be expected to function as a subject matter expert, in regard to this sector, both internally and externally.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive research and analysis of oil market data from proprietary models and public sources, covering supply, demand, trade, pricing, and downstream value chain elements.
Generate original research to assist clients in understanding policies, predicting trends, and identifying opportunities, while also analyzing the impact of regulations, taxation, infrastructure, trade, and motor fuel retail on the downstream oil market.
Involved in data mining activities related to energy, maintaining databases, models (which may include long and short-term supply demand balances and regional pricing models).
Act as the regional focal point for time-sensitive research tasks and report delivery, coordinating with in-country teams.
Conduct topical research to support internal teams and external clients in comprehending policies, foreseeing crucial trends, analyzing the competitive landscape, and identifying opportunities throughout the value chain.
Act as a core member of S&P Globals broader Asia oil market research team. Connect with global teams to share knowledge and exchange best practices.
What Were Looking For:
A highly motivated individual who is a good writer, has intellectual curiosity and resourcefulness, and can execute tasks autonomously.
A fundamental understanding of the Asian downstream oil industry is strongly preferred.
You demonstrate strong numerical and quantitative analysis skills. Advanced proficiency in Excel is highly preferred.
Possess professional integrity and willingness/desire to cultivate open mindset and teamwork culture.
Basic/Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Engineering or Business background.
4+ years of relevant experience in the energy industry and demonstrate knowledge across a broad range of issues and trends within the oil and refining sector is a plus.
Fresh Graduates is open to apply.
Strong English proficiency both written and oral is highly desired.
