The incumbent is responsible to provide best-in-class customer onboarding experience and manage an efficient and effective team to support the Companys business by assessing risks and approving or declining applicants within underwriting guidelines and compliance regulatory.
The complexity of the insurance business requires the incumbent to acquire strong technical underwriting skill, good leadership, be a team player, customer orientated and possesses supervisory skill. The incumbent is also required to work closely with other departments in delivering exceptional PRUexperience Service to customers.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Underwrite and ensure team to perform underwriting in accordance with the prioritization given and within agreed Turnaround Time.
Perform processing in accordance with underwriting guidelines, compliance regulatory and corporate requirements.
Monitor and review work systems and processes for the effective and efficient operations of the department.
Motivate team members towards achieving expected productivity, quality and performance.
Coach and develop subordinates to acquire skill required to perform the job effectively, deliver exceptional PRUexperience Service to customer, and guide the direct subordinates (assistant manager) in people management skills.
Assist manager in planning and developing training plan for team members. Initiate team discussion, case study / sharing.
Review penders, handle appeal and complex enquiries professionally, to resolve issues, establish client relationship and analysis needs.
Get involved in / lead projects (whenever assigned) effectively and efficiently, and complete within expected timeline.
Proactively highlight issue; provide feedback / suggestion or opportunities for improvement to management.
Perform related duties and tasks as assigned by superior from time to time.
Actively participate in/ organize department- wide or organizational- wide activities.
JOB SPECIFICATION:
Qualifications
A degree holder, preferably in Biomedical Science, Biology, Health Science or any field related to human biology or public health.
Professional qualification in Life Underwriting such as FLMI, LOMA.
Experience
Minimum 5 years related experiences in life and health insurance underwriting, with 3 years in supervisory capacity.
Knowledge
Sound knowledge of life underwriting including excellent understanding of risk factors, exclusions and benefits
Excellent technical underwriting skills & confident in decision-making
Good analytical and problem solving skills in handling customer enquiries through emphatic verbal and written communication
Good supervisory and coaching skills
Sound knowledge of life life underwriting including excellent understanding of risk factors, exclusions and benefits
Good communication and interpersonal skills with all levels
Basic planning and organizing skills
Strong leadership with effective people management skills
