JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Conduct inspections of structural steel welding in adherence to AWS standards.
Perform visual evaluations of non-destructive testing conducted by external parties or suppliers.
Oversee inspections carried out by suppliers or external entities when necessary.
Interpret fabrication blueprints and specifications for New Project Introduction (NPI) and ongoing projects.
Effectively communicate with stakeholders including suppliers, clients, contractors, supervisors, and fellow inspectors regarding specifications, test results, project progress, and requirements.
Maintain comprehensive fabrication or inspection records and pertinent documentation.
Collect inspection data and measurements to complete required checklists, ensuring quality assurance throughout various fabrication stages.
Document any deviations found during inspections and provide recommendations for corrective measures to ensure adherence to contract plans and specifications.
Train others on welding inspections and follow directions effectively.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Certification as a valid Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) from the American Welding Society(AWS)
Minimum 10 years relevant experience in a manufacturing environment with experience in material, welding, NDE.
Diplomas / Bachelors Degree in mechanical, welding, materials, manufacturing engineering or related discipline.
Proficiency in visual inspection and nondestructive testing of welds with demonstrated experience; familiarity with AWS Welding Codes/Standards preferred.
Capability to comprehend structural steel plans, technical drawings, and specifications.
Competency in utilizing weld inspection instruments.
Ability to accurately interpret plans and specifications and generate reports as required.
Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Aptitude for working independently with minimal supervision.
