Sika was first established in Malaysia in 1989 and full operations commenced in 1991 through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Sika Kimia Sdn Bhd, with the completion of its local head office and production plant in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan. Since then, the company has gained a leading position in the country with the acceptance and endorsement of its products for construction and industrial applications by local and international proponents.
In the Construction sector, our business activities cover the full spectrum of project types ranging from infrastructural development to buildings, from institutional facilities to manufacturing plants. We service our direct customers concrete producers, contractors and distributors and stay close to them through our central sales & marketing office in Petaling Jaya and a network of sales offices in Penang, Johor Bahru, Kuantan, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu. In 2014 our presence in the Malaysian construction continued to grow when our Ipoh Plant was built and running to meet customer demands.
In Malaysia, our Industry Division is the clear market leader in the automotive glass replacement sector (AGR) and the Sikaflex brand is instantly recognized as a mark for quality, reliability and performance. In the automotive OEM sector, we are the approved supplier to top German car markets such as Mercedes Benz and BMW. Meanwhile, Sika leads the field in total bonding, sealing, damping, reinforcing and protection solutions for bus, truck and rail vehicle manufacturing, and for the assembly of appliances, industrial equipment and building components.
Sika Kimia Sdn Bhd currently employs more than 340 people in Sales & Marketing, Technical Service, Finance, HR & Administration, Laboratory, Production, Purchasing, Customer Service and Warehouse.
Job Description
Oversee and enhance our organization's Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards
and practices. Responsible to develop a strong team to ensure compliance with regulatory
requirements, implementing best practices, and fostering a culture of safety and quality
throughout the organization.
- Develop and Implement EHS QA Strategies: Design and implement comprehensive EHS
QA roadmap and initiatives to ensure compliance with industry standards and
regulations, as well as aligned with company global EHS initiatives.
- Policy Development and Documentation: Develop, review, and update EHS policies,
procedures, and guidelines to promote a safe and healthy work environment as per Sika
corporate and regional guidelines . Ensure all documentation meets regulatory
requirements and is effectively communicated to relevant stakeholders
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Engage EHS team to perform regular safety walks and
internal EHS audit to identify potential hazards, assess EHS risks, and develop strategies
to mitigate risks. Implement corrective and preventive actions as necessary in
coordination with other departments.
- Training and Education: Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees at all
levels, including management, to promote awareness, compliance, and a culture of
safety. Ensure training programs are effective, practicals and up-to-date with regulatory
requirements.
- Incident Investigation and Reporting: Lead investigations into EHS incidents, accidents,
near misses, and other related events. Analyse root causes, implement corrective
actions, and prepare comprehensive incident reports. Ensure timely reporting to
relevant authorities as required
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Deploy corporate guidelines key performance
indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor EHS performance across all locations. Oversee I
reporting tool Spheracloud and deploy corrective actions.
- Supplier and Contractor Management: Engage EHS team to collaborate with
procurement and to evaluate EHS performance of suppliers and contractors. Establish
criteria for selection, conduct assessments, and ensure compliance with EHS standards
throughout the supply chain. Embed EHS topics in the core of the process.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of relevant EHS regulations, standards, and
industry developments. Ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable laws and
regulations, and proactively address any changes or updates.
Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance EHS processes,
systems, and practices. Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous
learning within the organization
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety,
Engineering, or related field. Advanced degree or professional certification are
preferred.
In-depth knowledge of EHS regulations, standards, and best practices, particularly in manufacturing industry.
Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to effectively communicate,
influence, and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Experience developing and delivering EHS training programs.
Proficiency in data analysis, reporting, and presentation skills.
Additional Information
Proven experience (>10 years) in EHS management roles, influencing company culture and driving EHS team toward our objective.
Speak and write in English and BM. Speaking Tamil is appreciated. Ability to travel as needed to various locations nationwide
