Position OverviewMerchandisers are involved in planning and developing merchandising strategies that align with the companys goals. They analyze sales trends, monitor stock levels, and work closely with suppliers and retail buyers to ensure that products are available to meet customer demand. Merchandisers often work in various settings, including retail stores, online platforms, and corporate offices, depending on the company's size and structure.
Monitor stock levels to ensure products are adequately stocked and that inventory is well-maintained to meet customer demand. (_Place orders for new stock, manage product returns and coordinate with suppliers_)
- Organize and display products on shelves according to company standards or promotional requirements. (_Create visually appealing displays, set up promotional stands and ensure products are stocked correctly and ensure the layout aligns with brand guidelines and marketing strategies_.)
Conduct market research to identify trends, competitors, and customer needs.- Analysis sales data to understand consumer preferences and trends to forecast future sales and adjust inventory and product placement strategies accordingly.
Coordinate with key outlet buyers & business owners to maintain friendly relationships and negotiate the best prices, order quantities, and delivery schedules. (_Communicate and propose our promotional activities, product launches and highlights to buyers and business owners_).
- Develop pricing strategies and promotional plans to boost sales and clear excess inventory. (_Oversee the production of marketing materials such as brochures, newsletters, and advertisements._)
Work closely with other department to design campaigns and ensure that promotional materials are effectively used.
Bachelors degree in Marketing, Business, Retail Management, or a related field.- A masters degree or relevant certifications can be an advantage.
Proven experience in merchandising, preferably in a similar role.
- Proficiency in digital marketing tools, software and platforms.
Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities (Strong ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.)- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines (High attention to detail).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Adaptability and willingness to learn and adapt to new inventory management system.
A Marketing Executive can progress to higher positions such as director of merchandising, head of buying, or even chief merchandising officer (CMO). The role involve setting the overall merchandising strategy for the company and overseeing large teams and significant budgets.
