Seeking a Skilled Media Production Engineer to Drive Innovation in Media Production
Job Overview
We are looking for a skilled Media Production Engineer to join our team, responsible for overseeing and maintaining all technical aspects of our media production operations. You will be essential in ensuring the reliability and optimal performance of production equipment, servers, storage and systems used throughout pre-production, production, and post-production phases.
Key Responsibilities
Production Equipment Management
- Oversee and maintain a wide range of production equipment, including cameras, lighting, sound systems, editing suites, and studio facilities.
- Ensure proper calibration, setup, and maintenance of equipment for shoots, including high-end systems like Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision setups.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with production hardware and software during filming or post-production.
Media Systems & Server Management
- Manage production servers and storage , ensuring efficient data storage, organization, backup, and retrieval of media assets.
- Administer media asset management (MAM) systems, ensuring seamless workflow integration and effective tagging and metadata systems for easy access to content.
- Monitor and maintain servers and archive systems, including LTO tapes and digital storage, to ensure data security and accessibility.
Workflow Optimization
- Collaborate with production teams to design, implement, and optimize workflows that support all stages of production from concept through post-production.
- Develop strategies for improving team efficiency and ensuring seamless transitions between different production phases.
- Ensure that workflows are scalable, reliable, and adaptable to new technologies or production needs.
Quality Control & Assurance
- Monitor the quality of audio and visual content throughout production, performing tests to ensure adherence to technical standards.
- Conduct regular checks on editing and audio equipment to prevent technical issues during critical production phases.
- Implement quality control measures and protocols to ensure the integrity of media content.
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide hands-on support during filming and post-production, including resolving technical issues quickly to minimize downtime.
- Work closely with the production team to address any technical challenges during shoots and ensure that the team is equipped with the necessary tools and knowledge.
- Manage the troubleshooting and repair process for production equipment as needed.
Equipment & Inventory Management
- Oversee the acquisition, inventory, and maintenance of production equipment, ensuring that all gear is in optimal condition.
- Coordinate repairs, upgrades, and replacements for production equipment in line with budget and project needs.
- Develop and maintain detailed equipment logs, including maintenance schedules and technical specifications.
Training & Development
- Conduct training sessions for production staff, ensuring they are familiar with proper equipment handling, safety protocols, and new technologies.
- Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies and educate the team on their application and benefits for production processes.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all production activities comply with industry safety standards and legal regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments of technical systems and production environments, and implement contingency plans to address potential hazards.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with production coordinators, engineers, and other team members to ensure that technical needs are understood and met.
- Facilitate seamless communication between departments to improve project timelines and efficiency.
Budget Management
- Assist in managing the budget for technical equipment and production infrastructure, identifying cost-effective solutions while maintaining high standards of quality and reliability.
- Recommend investments in new technology or upgrades based on production needs and emerging trends.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Stay informed about new production technologies and propose innovative solutions to improve production capabilities, streamline workflows, and enhance content quality.
- Regularly evaluate existing systems and processes for opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce technical bottlenecks.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Media Production, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
- 5-10 years of experience in a media production or technical role, with proven expertise in handling complex production equipment and workflows.
- In-depth knowledge of media production software, systems, and technologies (e.g., MAM systems, editing software, audio/video systems, servers).
- Experience with advanced media formats, including Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision, camera systems, and editing suites.
- Strong server management and data storage experience, including knowledge of LTO tape systems and digital archiving.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve technical issues quickly and efficiently.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various teams.
- Meticulous attention to technical detail to ensure the highest quality of production and technical integrity.
