SUMMARY OF THIS JOB :Reporting to the Head of Legal, the Legal Manager role is of a generalist commercial nature providing legal services and support various business to Altel group companies. The Legal Manager will provide advice, recommendations and solutions that are not only legally compliant but also commercially viable that enable business growth.
- KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB:
Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts which includes marketing agreements; collaboration and partnership agreements; procurement related agreements and documents including but not limited to appointment of service providers of purchase of software licenses and service level documents; and telecommunications related agreements such as sourcing agreements, service agreements and access agreements.
- Manage post-contract related matters arising from the collaboration, partnership, dealership, customer (individual/ enterprise) and / or procurement agreements including but not limited to extension of the contract duration, change of scope of works, dispute with vendor, supplier, dealer demand against vendor/ supplier on late delivery or non-performance.
Manage project related exercise, including strategizing and collaborating with relevant stakeholders.- Provide legal advice relating to telecommunication laws, in particular the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and subsidiary legislation, guidelines and policies. Conduct research into legal developments and to keep abreast with changes in laws and regulations in relation to ALTEL and its group companies.
Assist the Head of Legal in sourcing, engaging and coordinating with the external legal lawyers, advisors and consultants in delivery of legal services as required and in a cost-effective manner.
- Assist the Head of Legal to carry out activities such as trainings and knowledge sharing sessions with the business units to understand essential legal terms in the agreements and documents.
Protect the Groups interest while ensuring legal compliance and commercial requirements.- Any other duties as assigned.
Bachelors degree in Law (LLB (Hons))- At least 6 years experience.
Experience working as an inhouse counsel, telco & broadcasting experience is an added advantage.
- Good understanding of contract, commercial and corporate laws.
Good written, communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.- Able to meet deadlines and perform in a challenging and dynamic environment.
