SCOPE OF ROLE:
The Credit Control Manager is responsible for the extension of all credits to hotels guests, patrons and customers, including business associates. He / she is also responsible for the collection and follow-up of delinquent guests accounts and that all credit policies and procedures are adhered to.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To develop a working knowledge of all accounts receivable and credit procedures and operations as detailed in the Finance Manual.
- To report on Aged Analysis of Accounts Receivable of all outstanding accounts as well as problematic accounts including collection status and recommendations.
- To submit a monthly list of bad and doubtful debts for review and follow up.
- To review all credit and collection related problems at the monthly Credit Control meeting.
- To maintain records and history of all credit work.
- To work closely with credit card companies in regard to procedures, credit limit and cancellation bulletins.
- To liaise and maintain a close working relationship with business partners a key source of credit information on guests.
- To work closely with all operating department and sections of the Finance Department which have a bearing on credit management, offering advice and assistance on matters relating to credit.
- To co-ordinate workflow between Credit control and Accounts Receivable section to ensure that these sections complement each other.
- Review the daily high balance report and highlight to Chief Accountant any unusual balances.
- To negotiate with prospective clients on security and amount of credit to be granted.
- To take gradual action from polite to harsh in tone, for slow-paying debtors and to recommend such cases to the credit control committee for next course of action including suspension of account and appropriate legal action.
- To liaise with lawyers in regard to matters concerning the use of enforceable contracts by sales staff, the chasing of errant debts through legal means and any other matters relating to credit control.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience of end to end credit control and accounts receivable processes.
- Bachelor degree in related field.
- Exceptional client service skills.
- Attention to details.
- Advanced computer software skills.
