Purpose Statement:
To provide legal and compliance advice and support to the business. The role entails offering guidance on corporate and regulatory matters, overseeing legal & compliance programs, and facilitating trainings. You will be required to liaise with multiple stakeholders including indirect sourcing team, human resource and finance, the business leadership team, the ASEAN and Asia Pacific legal and compliance team, and external stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities:
Provide legal advice and support on business operations and growth initiatives.
Provide compliance guidance on business initiatives, analyses alternatives and solutions to the business.
Create, review, improve and enforce local policies and SOPs based in part on regional templates as well as interact with Regional Legal & Compliance department, as and when necessary.
Be the legal and compliance subject matter expert for the business to enable business growth in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, compliance policies, industry code of practice and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) guidelines.
Ensure contracts are executed in compliance with company policies on internal corporate approvals and SOPs.
Provide legal advice relating to employment matters and be a trusted partner to the human resources department.
Partner with relevant stakeholders to implement the legal and compliance program.
Provide expert legal guidance on a wide array of procurement matters, covering contracts, negotiations, interactions with suppliers, and enriching procurement strategies with legal insights.
Review, analyze and extract data for legal documents, reports, and correspondence to identify potential risks, liabilities, and compliance issues, providing recommendations for risk mitigation.
Work with the regional Legal & Compliance team regarding legal & compliance management/ initiatives and delivering legal & compliance training.
Provide support to other members of the Legal & Compliance Team and other tasks as required.
Responsible for coordinating the introduction of new products with Engineering, Quality Assurance and Logistics.
Achieve budgeted targets with respect to product quality, departmental spending, labour efficiency and production yields.
Manage the operation of the business unit to ensure compliance with established S.O.Ps and G.M.P guidelines.
Job Requirements:
Candidate required to process at least Bachelor's Degree in Law.
Legal background with experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts, particularly supply chain and procurement experience in Malaysia will be viewed favorably.
At least 3 to 5 years of Post-Qualified Experience with reputable law firms and in-house organization as legal counsel.
Stays up to date in area of expertise and demonstrates use of that knowledge to successfully achieve goals and objective.
Strong command of English and proficiency in at least one other ASEAN language preferred.
Wiling travel to Batu Kawan, Penang.
