Job Summary:
Reporting to the Head of Department, you will be responsible in managing and carrying out the whole spectrum of legal related services to ensure legal matters/issues which may raise a potential legal risk to the company are appropriately managed as well as ensuring continuity of good corporate governance in the company.
Job Description:
- Providing accurate and comprehensive legal opinion in parallel, to the risks of each legal issue, and support to the executives in a broad range of legal topics including but not limited to regulatory compliance, employment, risk management, contracts, liability and insurance/takaful, interdepartmental advisory services as well as applying effective risk management techniques and other proactive advice on possible legal issues.
- Drafting, vetting, and/or advising on various legal documentations such as contracts, agreements, marketing and distribution of the company's products including brochures, policy contracts, advertising materials, marketing, and advertising strategies for all business units/distribution channels.
- Attending meetings, engaging, consulting, negotiating, and/or liaising with relevant stakeholders of the company (regulators, external advisors, contract parties, internal parties, etc.) on operational matters, claims matters, products-related matters, and projects, as well as reviewing and executing periodic updates on the panel of solicitors.
- Providing legal support and advice on all legal queries on operational matters, claims matters, and issues referred by business units/stakeholders.
- Carrying out legal research in relation to legal issues arising from legal agreements/documents and business operations.
- Ensuring familiarity with the various aspects of products/documentation and the product implementation journey.
- Representing the company with the Head of Department in litigation cases, preparing company witnesses, collating relevant evidence/documents from various internal departments in preparation for instructing solicitors pertaining to new and ongoing cases/trials, and providing updates on litigation cases.
- Any other duties of an in-house counsel.
Job Specification:
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or its equivalent and admitted to the Malaysian Bar with at least 5 years of practice in litigation.
- Experience in the insurance/takaful business is not a prerequisite but an additional advantage.
- Possesses an excellent command of verbal and written English and drafting skills, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- A team player.

- Possesses a strong work ethic, meticulous, strong sense of responsibility, high degree of integrity and multi-tasking skills.
- Good coordination, attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills, high resilience, and agility in a fast-paced and changing environment.
