To provide intervention to children:
- Teach literacy and/or numeracy skills on a 1:1 or small group basis.
- Formulate and review SMART goals specific to the child's learning needs.
- Develop individualised lesson plans that cater to the child's specific learning style.
- Explain the objectives of any intervention to clients, teachers and/or parents.
- Monitor and assess student'sprogress and provide frequent feedback to parents, teachers and other relevant parties.
- Support fine motor activities and develop handwriting skills in collaboration with the Occupational Therapy team.
- Utilise fun and creative activities that include games, movement and multisensory techniques to help enhance the learning experience.
- Create and develop resources to support classroom learning and interventions.
Liaise with and advise relevant parties:
- Liaise and work collaboratively with parents, external centres, schools, doctors and other relevant parties to ensure the child's goals are met and aligned.
- Provide timely and high-quality feedback to families about their child's progress and share strategies where applicable.
- Make informed judgements on when to consult with others.
Other:
- Conduct research and be up to date with the latest evidence and methodologies.
- Keep up to date with relevant legislation.
- To attend relevant meetings including progress, MDT, and Townhall.
- Complete admin for intervention and report writing to a high standard and in a timely manner.
Requirements
- Minimum 4 years experience in Learning Support or related field
- Degree/Masters in Psychology, Special Needs Education or related field
- Familiarity with a multi-sensory approach is a plus
- Proficient in oral and written English communication skills, interpersonal skills, and computer proficiency, including the ability to use Microsoft Office programmes
- A highly reflective practitioner with a strong desire and interest in developing own skills which will enhance the learning experience of children (neurotypical and neurodiverse)
- Creative in developing lesson plans that meet the child's individual needs, strengths, and interests
- Capacity to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
