Access PaySuite is a market-leading UK FinTech in the Payment Sector and we're now seeking to grow our IT Operations Team with a driven, high performing, Systems Engineer to maximise the security, availability, resilience and of our payment platforms.
You'll be working on the latest payment technology supporting Direct Debit, Card Payments and Open Banking amongst others in a fast-changing, exciting sector.

About the role:
We are seeking a Systems Engineer to play a key role in an engineering team that is responsible for the operation of critical platforms supporting thousands of customers and millions of citizens. You will be part of a team that provides 2nd line support for our payments solutions, resolves the more demanding, complex, infrastructure or database specific incidents and provides essential support and maintenance. This occurs within a PCI-DSS and ISO27001 compliant IT Service Management regime.
The platforms that you will be working on support organisations across the UK, from enabling payments for major clean air initiatives such as the congestion charge and ultra-low emissions zones in London, enabling local authorities to support vulnerable citizens, and enabling payments for the BBC license fee. While doing this you will be delivering innovative changes that support Open Banking, payment wallets and alternative payment methods.
These platforms are a mix of public and private cloud, using the latest technologies to ensure that they deliver excellent service to our customers. Some of them are integrated into telephony solutions to deliver payment processing services.
Day-to-day, you will:
Provide technical support for PaySuite products; including Payment Portal, Touch Tone, Internet Payments, sCloud, CallSecure, Advanced Payments and any new products introduced as part of the product roadmap.
Provide technical support in relation to the shared and centralised infrastructure and associated environments across multiple data centres, including software, hardware, and network infrastructure, both virtual and physical where appropriate.
Diagnose incidents utilizing reviews of systems logs, monitoring solutions, database queries and investigative tools to restore normal operation as quickly as possible.
Identify problem areas for subsequent downstream investigation and resolution
Work as part of the team to ensure 99.9% availability for customers and take part in the out of hours support on a rota basis within the technical support team.
Work on projects as required such as upgrading software, hardware, and network infrastructure.
Carry out infrastructure maintenance by installing security and critical patches across several payment platforms.
Work with other teams to develop, implement Service Improvements to business processes, ensuring that all processes within the department are adhered to and to provide feedback on current or new procedures to ensure they reflect working practices.
Ensure all platforms are secure and conform to PCI-DSS and ISO27001 standards.
Ensure that all Service Level Agreements are met and wherever possible exceeded.
Perform customer Go-Live and implementations in accordance with documented procedures.
As a well-rounded Systems Engineer your Skills and Experiences likely include those identified below. Good working knowledge of Linux infrastructure. Network and hardware knowledge is also desirable.
A reasonable exposure to Windows and Active Directory is advantageous.
A good understanding of SQL and the ability to write and troubleshoot SQL queries. MS-SQL and/or MySQL experience is advantageous.
Knowledge or exposure to automation tooling such as Puppet, ansible, etc.
Knowledge and experience of virtualisation technologies, particularly VMWare.
Knowledge and experience supporting Java/.NET web applications and services.
Analysis of application and system logs to perform in depth investigations
Knowledge of scripting/programming such as bash, python, perl, powershell, etc.
Good communication skills verbal and written.
