We are seeking a skilled and knowledgeable
Head Technician to oversee and ensure compliance with Malaysian electrical kitchenware standards for our company's products.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in understanding the specific Malaysian standards, including the relevant Malaysian Standard (MS) IEC standards, for electrical kitchenware appliances. They will be responsible for verifying if our products comply with the required standards, providing technical guidance to the team, and ensuring the safety and quality of our electrical kitchenware products.
Understand and stay up-to-date with the Malaysian electrical kitchenware standards set by SIRIM/the Department of Standards Malaysia (Standards Malaysia) and the relevant Malaysian Standard (MS) IEC standards.
Verify if our products comply with the Malaysian electrical kitchenware standards and the specified MS IEC.
The Head Technician is responsible for staying updated on Malaysian electrical standards and regulations concerning imported goods, standards including but not limited to Voltage and Frequency Compatibility, Safety Standards, Certification and Markings, Product Labels and Instructions labelling, product instruction manuals availability in the local language, Restricted or Prohibited Substances, Packaging and Documentation. To avoid any customs complications, they must ensure that all electrical kitchenware equipment imported fulfill these specifications.
Establish effective communication and coordination with the relevant departments within the organisation, such as the purchasing department, customs department, and any other relevant government agencies. They should seek clearance from these departments, file necessary documentation, and apply for clearance before the purchasing department issues a purchase order to the exporter.
Conduct thorough evaluations and testing of electrical kitchenware appliances before import. This can include verifying product specifications, performance testing, and safety assessments to ensure compliance with Malaysia electrical standards.
Responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation related to compliance with Malaysia electrical standards. This can include maintaining records of testing and evaluation results, obtaining necessary certifications, and keeping track of any changes in regulations or standards.
Provide training and guidance to other team members or relevant stakeholders, such as the purchasing department or customs officials, regarding compliance with Malaysia electrical standards. This can help ensure a collective understanding of the requirements and promote smooth import processes.
Conduct thorough inspections and tests on electrical kitchenware appliances to ensure compliance with safety requirements, protection against electric shock, mechanical hasards, temperature limitations, and other performance criteria.
Provide technical guidance and support to the team of technicians and engineers involved in the design, development, and manufacturing of electrical kitchenware products.
Collaborate with other departments, including R&D, production, and quality assurance, to address any issues related to electrical kitchenware standards compliance.
Identify potential risks and suggest improvements in product design, manufacturing processes, and quality control systems to ensure compliance and enhance product safety and quality.
A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
In-depth knowledge and understanding of Malaysian electrical kitchenware standards, including the Malaysian Standard (MS) IEC standards.
Experience in verifying compliance with electrical safety standards, preferably in the context of electrical kitchenware appliances.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address potential risks and issues related to standards compliance.
Excellent attention to detail and the ability to conduct thorough inspections and tests
Good communication skills to provide technical guidance and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Familiarity with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and changes in electrical kitchenware standards.
Proficiency in using relevant inspection and testing equipment.
Knowledge of relevant software tools for documentation and record-keeping.
