To provide independent corporate and commercial legal advice to the QBE Asia Operations within the QBE International Division managing and maintaining the internal Asia legal team and the use of external legal resource where appropriate. Also to act as Company Secretary for the Asia Advisory Board and to co-ordinate and supervise company secretary services for the subsidiary companies across the Asia Operations of the International Division
Primary Responsibilities
Supervise provision of legal advice from external and internal lawyers across Asia
Conduct supervision of company secretarial activity across Asia
Engage with the Asia business on their strategies and provide support for those strategies
Manage, maintain and develop the legal team within Asia
Contribute to a regime of continuous improvement to ensure the efficient use of resources in area of responsibility
Keep abreast of corporate and insurance law developments in all relevant Asia jurisdictions, identify potential opportunities/threats and formulate action plans/mitigation strategies
Act as an internal expert to provide legal advice to internal customers so that their legal needs are well serviced.
Work with other QBE managers and external service providers by engaging in concise and timely communication and helpful cooperation to proactively protect QBEs interests
Provide independent corporate and commercial legal advice that achieves effective and efficient processes and desired outcomes
Contribute to the management of legal Risk to ensure minimum financial impact on QBE results and to protect QBEs reputation
Project manage legal Issues to minimize the cost and risk to QBE
Contribute to ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, industry codes and Company policies, guidelines and processes to protect QBEs interests
