Job Summary:
The Head of Internal Audit is responsible for MRANTI's strategic risk-based internal audit plan and managing the internal audit function in accordance with the internal audit charter, internal audit framework and the professional standards for internal auditing promulgated by the Institute of Internal Auditors.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and execute an annual risk-based internal audit plan
- Lead the internal audit department in the planning, execution, and delivery of each internal audit assignment
- Perform root cause analysis and provide value add recommendations/improvements for the processes in the business
- Facilitate handshake meetings between divisions to ensure agreement on cross-functional corrective actions
- Prepare the quarterly update to the audit and risk management committee
- Coordinate the annual reporting of the company-wide Corporate Assurance Plan, which includes Internal audit, risk & compliance and integrity & governance
- Continuous review of the company's business, risks, programmes, systems, controls, and update the annual risk based internal audit plan to reflect any significant changes
- Timely following up on engagement findings and corrective actions, and report periodically to the Director of Internal Audit & Integrity and senior management any corrective actions not effectively implemented
- Provide guidance and development to the internal audit team
- Ensure the principles of integrity, objectivity, confidentiality, and competency are applied and upheld
- Ensure the department collectively possesses or obtains the knowledge, skills, and other competencies needed to meet the requirements of the internal audit charter
- Liaise and work with senior management in executing responsibilities and maintaining good relations at all levels of management
- Carry out ad hoc assignments and investigations which include but are not limited to special reviews as and when required by the Director of Internal Audit & Integrity, Board or management
Qualification:
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is required
- Master's degree is preferred in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a similar field
- Recognized accounting/auditing qualifications and certification [e.g., CIA, C.A (M)].
- Expert knowledge on internal auditing, internal controls, risk management,finance and accounting practices and methods.
- Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience with a minimum of 5 years of managerial experience.
