Job Responsibilities
Ensure the compliance at Global Markets to accounting principles and practices, Group Accounting Policy, operating procedures and other regulatory accounting guidelines
Ensure the integrity & accuracy of the General Ledger Accounts under the Global Markets cost centers through implementation of control systems, review of key reports and MIS
Ensure that all elements of revenue generation & cost incidence are captured accurately and have financial controls in place to prevent accounting inaccuracies and errors
Ensure timely & correct submission of financial returns to various internal & external authorities (i.e. Group Finance, Group Business Performance, Group Treasury line staff, Group Market Risk etc)
Incite and drive changes to establish world best practice of governance of Global Markets business.
Establish and Implement:
o Product Control (PC) team to cover daily production / reconciliation of the daily P&L, Balance Sheet and perform P&L Attribution, Fair Value Adjustments and MFRS9 ECL computation
o Regulatory Control team to cover all Global Markets related regulatory reporting needs
o Valuation Control team to support Global Markets quantitative needs. This includes validation and review of pricing models, independent verification of market data inputs, client valuation support and booking model review for new products
o Business Finance team to prepare monthly Global Markets business analysis and report pack for Group CFO & MD of Global Markets, Group Business Performance, and Group Finance. Preparation of Annual Budgets & Performance Plans
o Middle Office team set up to improve segregation of duties with a focus on the oversight of system controls, operational inefficiencies, and mitigate potential operational and regulatory risk. This includes user administration, static and market data maintenance, review of structured trade bookings, client valuations and collateral management
o Change Management team to cover all projects relating to Global Markets Finance to deliver business relevant, accurate & time daily P&L and Balance Sheet and MIS reports.Successfully implement Murex3 and the integration to GL and use data warehouse for Global Markets Reporting
o Strategically plan recruit, train and retain strong candidates/team members within Global Markets Finance team Manage 5 direct reports with overall team of 15 people
Assist the Group Business Performance team in compiling and reconciling the monthly performance reporting:
o Cover the Rate Agencies presentation for Trading & Investment Securities during annual review meetings
o Assist Investor Relation presentation on Global Markets activity
o Support the ALCO process with respect to Global Markets business
Liaise with Internal Audit and to manage the follow-up on audit issues, both internal and external. Liaise with external auditors with a view to ensuring smooth completion of audit
Assist in formulating the new Product Programs in Global Markets. Provide financial and accounting inputs to the development of new GM products
Ensure adherence to all internal and external regulations. To embed Compliance Risk monitoring as an integral part of the business process
Ensure that there are appropriate and documented internal controls and procedures in place. Monitor the operation of such procedures and controls and regularly review them to ensure that they reflect any changes in products, systems, policy and regulations.
