The Factory Manager is responsible for overseeing the overall operations of a factory or manufacturing facility. The person on this position is accountable for managing production processes, ensuring efficiency, quality control, and meeting production targets. The Factory Manager plays a crucial role in optimizing resources, implementing safety measures, and maintaining a smooth workflow within the facility.
Responsibilities and Duties
Operations Management:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the factory, including production planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with quality standards and efficiency goals.
- Continuously review and improve operational procedures to maximize productivity and minimize costs.
Production Planning and Control
- Develop and implement production plans, considering factors such as demand, capacity, and resource availability.
- Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed to meet deadlines and customer requirements.
- Coordinate with other departments (e.g., procurement, logistics) to ensure timely delivery of materials and finished goods.
Quality Control and Assurance
- Establish and enforce quality control standards and procedures to ensure product consistency and customer satisfaction.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and resolve quality issues.
- Collaborate with the quality assurance team to implement corrective actions and drive continuous improvement.
Safety and Compliance
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and promote a safe working environment.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures, conducting regular safety training and promoting a culture of safety awareness.
Inventory and Supply Chain Management
- Oversee inventory management processes, including stock monitoring, ordering, and stocktaking.
- Collaborate with the procurement team to maintain optimal inventory levels and minimize stockouts or excess inventory.
- Coordinate with the logistics team to streamline the flow of materials and finished goods in and out of the factory.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate production efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Prepare regular reports on production performance, highlighting areas of improvement and implementing corrective actions.
- Other ad-hoc assignments by reporting.
Team Leadership
- Manage and supervise a team of production staff, including hiring, training, and performance management.
- Foster a positive work environment, promoting teamwork, motivation, and employee engagement.
- Provide guidance and support to employees, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a manufacturing or factory management role.
- Strong knowledge of production processes, quality control, and lean manufacturing principles.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of inventory management and supply chain concepts.
