Why does this job exist and why is it critical
The Enterprise Budget & Cost Manager is responsible for managing the entire enterprise budget, including both OPEX and CAPEX costs, regardless of whether these costs originate from other departments or within the enterprise department. This role involves validating, tracking, and ensuring that all spending aligns with enterprise goals, providing a thorough check on costs, even when they are approved or raised by other stakeholders.
What are you accountable for
- Oversee and manage the full enterprise budget, including operational expenditure (OPEX) and capital expenditure (CAPEX).
- Collaborate with finance and various departments to gather and consolidate all budget requirements.
- Provide regular reporting and analysis on budget allocations, forecasts, actuals, measurements, performance, and learnings.
- Ensure alignment between financial planning, budget allocation, and enterprise goals.
- Perform in-depth validation and scrutiny of all enterprise costs, including those submitted by other departments.
- Monitor all spending requests (approved or not) and verify compliance with Maxis and enterprise financial policies.
- Ensure accurate cost tracking, allocations, and compliance with budgeting rules.
- Validate cost justifications and ensure they meet organizational standards for efficiency and relevance.
- Develop and maintain detailed cost models to forecast and control enterprise spending.
- Analyze budget variances and offer strategic recommendations for cost optimization.
- Present periodic reports to senior management, highlighting budget performance, potential risks, and areas for improvement.
- Act as the key liaison between finance, procurement, and other departments to ensure budget requests and expenditures are aligned.
- Work closely with project managers and department heads to review project costs and make necessary adjustments.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of financial data across multiple departments.
- Ensure all spending and budgetary decisions adhere to organizational policies and financial regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments related to budgetary decisions and develop corrective actions where necessary.
- Maintain thorough documentation of all cost validations, approvals, and financial justifications.
- Identify and implement opportunities for improving budgeting and cost management processes.
- Stay updated on best practices in cost validation and financial management, and propose enhancements to current practices
What do you need for the role
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
- Experienced in budget management, financial analysis, or a related role, preferably within a large enterprise environment.
- Proven track record in managing OPEX and CAPEX budgets, with strong analytical skills.
- Strong knowledge of financial controls, auditing, and cost validation processes.
- Advanced proficiency in financial software and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, SAP, Oracle).
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Attention to Detail: Strong focus on ensuring all costs are scrutinized and validated.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate across departments.
- Problem Solving: Ability to resolve financial discrepancies and recommend effective cost-saving measures.
- Integrity: High level of ethical standards, ensuring compliance and transparency in all financial dealings.
- Experience in the telecommunications or technology sector.
- Experience with enterprise-level budgeting tools and ERP systems.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CMA) are an added advantage.
