About The Role
Monitors and manages the IT Disaster Recovery (DR) capabilities, processes and outcome are met as agreed service levels.
Responsibilities
Monitors and manages the IT Disaster Recovery (DR) capabilities, processes and outcome are met as agreed service levels. In particular he/she ensures that:
- The service levels for RTO & RPO objectives as defined by Business Impact Analysis (BIA) are maintained and continually improved
- Responsible for the overall IT DR direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of DR activities ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals
- Serve as the single point of contact for all matters related IT DR including Forecasting and Capacity Management
- Facilitates and ensures the strategy, policies, processes and standards remain fit for purpose and aligned with industry best practices
- Ensures DR risks and issues are managed, escalated and properly resolved
- The service levels for outsourced services/functions are maintained and continually improved
- Ensure DR Tests are conducted periodically for on-premise and cloud assets as per the contractual agreements with the relevant service providers
Monitor and manage Tape (Backup) inventory.
- Responsible and accountable for all backup and safekeeping of medias including virtual tapes.
- Ensure all backup medias including virtual tapes are accounted for.
- Ensure the security and the safekeeping of backup medias both in transit and at locations.
- Perform periodic inventory count.
- Periodic review of tape management process including developing of Standard Operating Procedure with a view to improve and secure the backup medias.
Backup Governance (On-Premise & Cloud).
- Ensure backups are configured and executed as per the requirements
- Ensure proper reporting is in place to track success and failure of backups
- Ensure backup window is always enforced
- Ensure backup policies are up-to-date and assigned to the correct assets.
- Ensure backup retention policies are enforced as required for both production and non-production assets
- Monitor, track and ensure backup Service Level Agreements (SLA) are followed and met accordingly.
Assist the Data Centre Service Manager in monitoring and administer the data center.
- Assist the Data Centre Service Manager in monitoring the data centers to ensure it comply to standard and best practices.
- Assist the Data Centre Service Manager in the administration of the Data Centre including developing and updating of standard operating procedure, maintaining records for audit purposes and perform recertification.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science with at least 7 years work experience in IT Disaster Recovery Management
- Experience with ITIL is highly desired
- Experience in Tivoli Storage Manager, Symantec NetBackup, Commvault and similar backup technologies
- Experience with Enterprise data protection and disaster recovery solutions, and understand Enterprise application data management requirements
- Has knowledge in Enterprise Storage systems from EMC, NetApp, NDS and similar systems
- Knowledge in Power BI and MS Visio is an added advantage
- Good communication, human relations and leadership skills
- Ability to use non-technical approaches to train others and well developed problem solving and analytical skills
- Creative disposition to develop new ideas
- Demonstrate excellence in interpersonal communications and listening skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize
- Ability to identify and understand organizational risks and vulnerabilities and develop resilience strategies and recovery plans to lower risks
- Good project management skills and trouble-shooting skills
- Ability to develop and drive DR strategy
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and exercise rational independent judgment.
- Offsite meeting will be required from time to time
