Director of Business Development

Director of Development, Onyx Hospitality Group (based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia)

The key objective of the Business Development & Investment Department is to selectively develop and grow ONYX's unique, geographically balanced, and financially sustainable portfolio of properties (business hotels, exclusive resort properties serviced apartments and mixed-use projects) in the key gateway cities, primary and secondary commercial destinations and capital cities, and established and pioneering exclusive resort destinations.

Reporting to: SVP - Investment & Development, ONYX Hospitality Group and working with Director of Business Development & Strategy, Corporate Office in Bangkok

Key responsibilities:

Grow the portfolio in Malaysia and Indonesia

Development Presentations to the Investors, Owners, Consultants, and other parties

Preparation of Heads of Terms and negotiation of commercial terms

Financial feasibility and deal evaluation for new projects

Generate business development leads and participates in development pitches with the Owners Market research and compile data to qualify for prospective projects

Efficient pre-screening of new project leads to minimize time wasted on obvious strategic miss-fits

Coordination for all development projects, ensuring timely and accurate sharing of information with all functional contributors to the process, and strategic involvement of all functions throughout the process, in accordance with the agreed development process

Assisting in reviewing and updating of Group Development Strategy, including identification of geographical target destinations and prioritization of targets based on strategic relevance, changing geopolitical and competitive market landscape, as well as nature of prevalent deal structures applied locally

Participation in selected real estate and development conferences and tourism fairs.

Liaison with business partners (owners, developers, project managers, hotel managers etc.)

Regular updating of our contract and project database and internal reporting systems

Assisting in preparation of regular development reports and deal approval documentation for the EXCOM and MANCOM in accordance with the established reporting and approval milestones of the development process.

The roles require strong:

(2) Good Command of deal negotiation and Excel modeling

(3) Financial Analysis and Research skills

(4) Networking skills in the industry

(5) Prior hotel development experience in the Southeast Asian region is essential

(6) Fluent in English, Bahasa and Chinese
