About you:
We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to strengthen our team of talented developers and engineers. You will be a key member of the Cloud Platform team, with a diverse set of responsibilities including management of our CI/CD process, cloud infrastructure management and security.
The broader Fathom team includes developers, engineers and designers who are recognised as leading practitioners in their respective crafts. This is an opportunity to join them and influence the quality, value, and architecture of a modern web application.
Day-to-day, you will:
- As a senior member of a small team (2-3), you will be involved in the day-to-day coordination of the team. This will include mentoring and work prioritization (via Jira).
- Oversee the maintenance and improvements to our CI/CD pipelines using TeamCity, Octopus Deploy and Github actions.
- Azure architecture and implementation provide expert advice on cloud native architectural patterns and practices. Including but not limited to IaaS, PaaS, Containers, Networking, Storage and cyber security.
- Provide a pathway to scaling out our application using Containerization and/or App Services.
- Maintaining and improving our Infrastructure as Code platform deployment process. This will include technologies such as PowerShell, Bicep and ARM Templates.
- Maintaining and improving our cloud monitoring strategy by broadening the performance and security data we collect and enhancing our alerting capability.
- Identify areas of improvement with respect to emerging cloud architectural patterns.
- Be a participant in daily standups and other aspects of our Agile planning process.
- Be a champion for DevOps within the broader engineering team.
- Work closely with Cloud Platform Engineers including mentoring and skills development
- Ensure our environment is secured using network firewalls, application gateways and other Azure native security and governance features (Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Azure Policy).
Your skills and experiences might also include:
- Proven leadership experience, leading by example to get the job done, demonstrating resilience, flexibility, ownership, accountability, pragmatism and collaboration.
- Deep understanding of Agile Product Delivery and how to reconcile Agile development with the demands of formal governance.
- Be agile and perform effectively in multi-tasking fast-paced environments.
- Ability to collate and analyse large, disparate data sets to identify trends and insights.
- A high attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Excellent verbal and written communication as well as receptive listening skills, with ability to present complex ideas in a clear, concise fashion to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to tailor communication approach depending on seniority, experience, skillset & knowledge of stakeholders
- Self-managing and working virtually.
- Excellent team player who can work with virtual, global, and cross-functional teams.
- Understand the nuances that exist within a large Organisation and the SDLC, and how they apply to and impact a defined Governance structure.
- Capacity to manage high stress situations.
- Comfortable presenting to senior leaders (e.g. Development directors) and be compelling and influential at this level of the organisation.
- Positive and supportive during periods of significant change.
- Experience using and working with Business Intelligence tools.
- A critical-thinker, able to respond to shifting priorities, demands and timelines by using effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work with, and help resolve, ambiguity whilst still achieving goals.
- Strong appreciation for business and innovation, able to identify and improve working practices
- Takes a holistic view, identifying issues early and prioritising appropriately.
