Job Summary:The Chief Steward is responsible for leading and managing the stewarding team to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and service in dining areas and kitchen facilities. This role includes overseeing the setup and maintenance of dining areas, managing inventory and equipment, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. The Chief Steward works closely with other departments to deliver exceptional service and maintain operational efficiency.
Team Management:- Supervise and train stewarding staff, including dishwashers, kitchen porters, and cleaning personnel.
Schedule staff shifts and ensure adequate coverage for all service areas.Service Quality and Efficiency:
Ensure that all dining areas and kitchen facilities are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Oversee the setup and breakdown of dining areas for events, ensuring all service equipment is properly arranged and functioning.
Inventory and Equipment Management:
- Manage inventory of cleaning supplies, kitchenware, and other necessary items.
Maintain and inspect service equipment, identifying and addressing any maintenance or repair needs.
- Health and Safety Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations.- Conduct regular inspections to ensure adherence to safety and cleanliness standards.
Coordination with Other Departments:- Collaborate with kitchen staff, service teams, and event coordinators to ensure smooth operation and high-quality service.
Address and resolve any issues or concerns related to service or cleanliness promptly.Budget and Cost Control:
Assist in the preparation and management of the stewarding budget.
- Implement cost-control measures to optimize resource use and reduce waste.
Training and Development:
- Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for stewarding staff.
Foster a positive work environment and ensure staff are motivated and engaged.
Ensure that all customer interactions are handled professionally and promptly.- Address and resolve any customer complaints or feedback related to service and cleanliness.
Reporting and Documentation:- Prepare and submit reports on stewarding operations, including staff performance, inventory levels, and maintenance issues.
Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, and equipment usage.
