Key Responsibilities
You are responsible to prepare specific food items and meal components at your station as directed. Essential duties and primary responsibilities include the following:
Prepare ingredients before service, making sure the raw materials and ingredients are available and well prepared before operation starts.
Always keep the cleanliness of the kitchen, before, during and after operation starts. Make sure all the necessary equipments and cabinets are cleaned and must clear all leftover food and trash from the restaurant premises every day. Ensure that all health and food safety standards are practiced.
Practice FIFO (first in first out) and LIFO (Last in first out) food, make sure fresh food are proper kept and are placed in their respective location such as in the chiller and freezer. Monitor stock level of raw food and ingredients and replenish when timely.
- Food Quality and presentation
Assist the sous chef in terms of developing standard workflow for food preparation and control of dish and to assist the sous chef in ensuring the food quality and its presentation are maintained. Also assist to troubleshoot any kitchen issues that may arise.
Maintain the kitchen equipment in tip top condition; the knives are sharp, the chiller, refrigerator and the oven are functioning properly etc. If there is a need to service the equipment, he or she shall inform the sous chef or the restaurant supervisor.
Assist the sous chef to motivate the kitchen crew, and in rostering the kitchen team. Also assist the sous chef in getting the kitchen team to cooperate with the front of house crews to deliver good service to the guests.
In the absence of the Sous Chef, you will be in charge of the kitchen activities. The company encourages its staffs to provide feedback for improvement. He or she shall perform
Job Requirements
- At least a Diploma in Culinary Arts and with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the respective roles applied for.
- Must be able to speak and write in Malay and English. Those with the ability to speak Mandarin is an advantage.
- Able to communicate and work well within the team and also with the service crews.
- Able to work split shift of 10 hours, with rest of 2.5 hours in between.
- Have own transport. Our restaurant is within walking distance from a Taman Tun MRT Station.
- Able to work on weekends.
- In good health and maintain high personal hygiene.
