Job PurposeThe CT is responsible to assist the HCM in administrating the department in the delivery of services to cardiac patients. He or she shall perform all technical duties cardiac procedures done in the Heart Centre as well.
- Duties & Responsibilities
To assist the Heart Centre Manager in the daily running of the department and in his absence act in his capacity.- Maintain a harmonious and effective working relationship within the unit and also with other medical, nursing and subordinate staff.
Conduct / participate in in-house training and education sessions. He or she shall from time to time conduct in-service training to other technical staff and nurses in cardiac and other clinical areas.
- Participate in QA, MSQH and other future QA programmes. He or she will assist the Department Manager in drawing up and reviewing the department P&Ps in conforming in all QA and statutory requirements.
To perform as well as provide technical support on all non-invasive cardiac procedures which include resting ECG, Stress ECG, ECHO/Stress ECHO, Holter/ABP Monitoring,etc.
- Responsible for basic preventive maintenance and calibration on all laboratory equipments in the department.
Ensure that established inventory standards for supplies and all charging mechanisms are adhered to.- Ensure that all reports and documentations are up to date.
Responsible for laising with the Cardiologist/Radiologist in the scheduling of cases.- Ensure that all angiography apparatus, interventional devices and all case related consumables are available prior to the case.
Responsible for basic preventive maintenance and calibration on all laboratory equipments in the department.
- Responsible for hemodynamic monitoring, recording and analysis during procedures and ensure that complete documentation is done.
To assist during any emergency and if credentialed he or she perform intravenous cannulation and assist in administering drugs.- Double check with the charging staff to ensure that there is no under or wrong charging at the end of each procedure.
Degree or Diploma in Cardio-Respiratory Technology or related course.- Diploma in Medical Assistance or other related course.
Skills include performing ECG, Holter, 2D/3D Echocardiography, Stress ECG / Stress Echo(Treadmill and Dobutamine) & must be trained in Cardiac Cath procedures.
- Minimum 3 years working in a full fledged cardiac environment.
The SCT is required to work in a Radiation environment. He or she must be prepared to work staggered hours and be on call up to 24 hours for any emergency cases.
