Job Description

The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for the company. This role requires a meticulous approach to managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements, processing payroll, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The Bookkeeper will play a critical role in tracking shipments, managing client billing, and supporting the overall financial health of the company.

Key Responsibilities:



Accounts Payable and Receivable:

Record and process all invoices, ensuring timely payments to vendors and suppliers.

Issue and track invoices to clients, following up on outstanding payments.

Reconcile accounts payable and receivable accounts, addressing discrepancies promptly.

Bank Reconciliations:

Reconcile bank statements with internal financial records on a regular basis.

Investigate and resolve any discrepancies found during reconciliations.

Payroll Processing:

Process payroll for employees, ensuring accurate and timely payments.

Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with tax regulations.

Financial Reporting:

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.

Provide financial reports to management, highlighting key financial metrics.

Compliance and Taxation:

Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, including tax filings and reporting.

Prepare and submit tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Stay updated on changes in financial regulations that may impact the company.

Shipment Tracking and Billing:

Monitor and record all freight shipments, ensuring accurate billing to clients.

Work closely with the operations team to ensure all costs related to shipments are accounted for.

Manage billing disputes and work with clients to resolve issues.

General Ledger Management:

Maintain the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.

Perform regular audits of financial records to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Communication:

Liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to resolve financial queries.

Provide support to the Finance Manager and other departments as required.

Qualifications:



Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role.

Experience in the freight forwarding or logistics industry is highly desirable.

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and MS Office Suite.

Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Education:



A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.

Professional certification (e.g., AAT, ACCA) is an advantage.
