Backend Developer (Malaysians only)

Hybrid Work | 1 Year Contract (with a potential to convert to permanent based on your performance)

What You'll Do:

• Work with a team of developers, designers, and project managers to create and improve websites and mobile apps for a leading Islamic insurance provider.
• Build backend systems that support these platforms, focusing on clean, scalable, and secure code.
• Design APIs (tools that connect different software) and ensure the website and mobile apps run smoothly.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure the projects meet user needs and are delivered on time.
• Occasionally introduce new technologies and explain them to stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Team Collaboration: Work closely with front-end developers (UI/UX designers, web developers) to create seamless user experiences.
2. Project Delivery: Ensure high-quality, secure backend systems are delivered for customer-facing websites and apps.
3. Technical Leadership: Lead technical discussions, make key decisions, and suggest improvements for the codebase and architecture.
4. Development & Optimization: Write clean and efficient code, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the software performs well at scale.
5. Security & Documentation: Incorporate security features and ensure proper documentation for all projects.

Skills & Requirements:

• Education: Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Experience:
• At least min 2 years in software engineering
• 1+ year experience with Node.js.
• Familiarity with databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB), REST APIs, WebSockets, Docker, and AWS.
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Skills: Strong understanding of data security, asynchronous programming, and good coding practices (code reviews, testing).
• Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and teamwork. Must be able to work independently when needed.
