This position is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining audio and visual equipment for school events, meetings, production, and other operational needs. This role ensures that all audio visual (AV) systems, lighting and sound functions well to deliver high-quality audio and visual experiences. The AV Technician will work closely with staff to provide technical support and resolve issues as they arise.
Install, configure, and operate audio equipment, including microphones, speakers, and mixers.- Set up and manage visual equipment, such as projectors, screens and lighting systems.
Ensure all equipment is functioning well before and during events.
- Integrate AV systems with existing technologies, such as computer networks and video conferencing tools.
Test and calibrate equipment to ensure compatibility and effective performance.- Provide on-site technical support for events in and out of the School compound, including setting up and dismantling AV equipment.
Monitor equipment performance during events and make adjustments as necessary
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on AV equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly to minimize disruptions during events.
- Documentation and Reporting
Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while handling and operating AV equipment.- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to AV equipment and operations.
Maintain accurate records of AV equipment inventory, condition, and usage.
- Document technical issues, equipment malfunctions, and maintenance activities.
Offer technical support and address any concerns or issues related to AV systems.
- Assist in designing AV setups that meet specific event or installation requirements.
Plan and execute the setup of AV systems to achieve desired outcomes for events or environments.- Communicate effectively with staff and students to understand their AV needs and provide appropriate solutions.
Handle feedback and address any concerns related to AV services provided.
- Contribute to the development of best practices and procedures for AV operations.
Any ad-hoc task delegated by the superior from time to time.
- To carry out tasks which may involve working irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, depending on event schedules.
Responsible for setting up and handling equipment, requiring physical stamina and adaptability to various environmental conditions.
- Education qualification, skills and experience
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in audio-visual technology, electronics, or a related field is preferred.- Previous experience as an AV Technician or in a similar technical support role is highly desirable.
Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting audio and visual equipment, strong problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills.
- Familiarity with AV equipment, including sound systems, lighting rigs, projectors, and cameras.
Attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, strong organizational skills and could work cooperatively and effectively with colleagues.
