We are seeking an experienced Property & Casualty Actuary to join our Risk & Actuarial team. In this role, you will support the leadership in department activities, primarily focusing on Property & Casualty valuation and projects, ensuring timely deliverables and compliance with regulatory requirements and Hannover Office guidelines. Additionally, you will contribute to the attainment of the Malaysian Branch strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Appointed Actuary in performing the valuation of the Branch's technical provisions.
Provide analytical support by highlighting trends and insights, interpreting underlying performance, assessing implications for the business, and communicating key uncertainties.
Support continuous enhancement on IFRS 17 actuarial methodologies and assumptions, aiming to improve quality, transparency, and timeliness of deliverables.
Ensure methodologies comply with relevant reporting standards such as HGB, IFRS, RBC, and Solvency II.
Evaluate the Branch's financial condition, including capital management, stress testing and scenario analysis.
Proactively implement innovative ideas and solutions independently to drive continuous improvement to the Branch's operating model.
Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of professional actuarial experience in the insurance or reinsurance sector, with a background in the Property & Casualty.
Qualified or nearly qualified actuary with robust actuarial knowledge. Fellowship qualification from a recognized professional actuarial body is a plus.
A university degree or postgraduate studies in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
Proficiency in actuarial software (e.g., ResQ), programming languages (e.g., VBA, RStudio), and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Strong conceptual and analytical abilities to solve problems and achieve outcomes based on sound judgement and exceptional data analysis.
Ability to think creatively and be adaptable within a team to be preferred business partner.
Effective communication skills in writing, business presentations, and interpersonal interactions, essential for liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
