THE COMPANY
Our Client is a US MNC in the Manufacturing industry with strong presence in Asia. They are currently looking for an Accountant (based in Petaling Jaya) to join their team in Malaysia, reporting to the Finance Manager (Malaysia).
THE ROLE
The Accountant oversees daily financial tasks, monthly closings, and reporting, and assists the Finance Manager with financial planning, audits, and tax submissions. This role involves coordination with customers, vendors, auditors, tax agents, bankers, and team members.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting:
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end closing and financial reporting to the Finance Manager
- Prepare and close monthly/annual financial statements
- Manage AP, AR, GL, and account reconciliations
- Coordinate with internal and external parties (auditors, tax agents, authorities)
- Ensure compliance with tax and financial filing requirements
Compliance and Auditing:
- Ensure adherence to financial regulations and reporting standards
- Coordinate internal and external audits, providing required financial information
- Stay updated on regulatory changes
Financial Systems and Processes:
- Continuously improve financial systems, processes, and controls
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, or equivalent, or a partially qualified accountant with a professional qualification.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a financial accounting role, ideally in a manufacturing/distribution or multinational environment.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and commercial financial practices.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with experience in financial modeling and reporting.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of management.
